My dad was a racist homophobe pos until Obama. When he saw Obama take the oath he actually cried. He never made shitty remarks again out loud to me. Not sure how much he changed, he’s still a bad father but at least he realized the world he grew up in is long dead (but seemingly making a comeback unfortunately)

Here’s a quick interview and not just a joke:

He started as child star with his sister Aimee-Leigh Freeman. Misbehavin’ made him a globally known talent. Now he is producing some of the hottest showes on faith based television.
It’s from a TV show called The righteous gemstones. Basically it follows a fictional prosperity gospel family through all of their hypocritical and terrible life choices.
I have a friend who is a career nurse and has dealt with a lot of elderly people.
She explained that it has to do with testosterone levels affecting the brain.
As young men, their levels are through the roof and it drives them crazy and they sexualize everything and everyone around them all the time. Sexualize to the point where it will make you wonder if they are gay or not because they constantly want to associate and fraternize with other men all the time.
By middle age, they temper their habits and are easier to deal with and their politics are less extreme but still conservative.
After a certain age and on their way to being elderly … they really soften up on many things as the testosterone levels start to decrease a lot.
By the time they are old feeble and very old in age, their levels are very low and they turn into some of the kindest most humble people imaginable. She pointed out several people in my family and hers that were once almost brutish conservative assholes in their 30s and 40s who turned into meek kindly old men in their 70s.
I should know because I’m a man and I know how easily it was to fall into the whole masculine culture in my teens, 20s and 30s … I’m middle aged now and I really don’t care about all that any more … and judging from what I’ve seen in my family, I’ll probably be a very quiet old man who will absolutely not care about any politics in my old age.

Maybe. Or maybe feel empathy and have met many different people. Or something else.
I’m no scientist or researcher … but the logic tracks with me.
I have many gay/bi/questioning/anything/nothing/something friends and relatives. The majority of all them are very liberal minded in their politics. There are outliers but not many.
The opposite is also true … I have a lot of straight people in my family and they are more easily prone to follow conservative and even far right rhetoric … this one is weird because I’m Indigenous Canadian and you’d think we would all be a left leaning bunch but we are not.
