• Pirelli really need to up their game, too many races this year have been one-stops.

    • They have upped their game. A tire that only lasts a couple of laps is a shit tyre, not a better one.

If the only way they can make anything interesting happen is to make the cars pit every couple of laps that’s still not good racing imo.

      • A tire that only lasts a couple of laps is a shit tyre, not a better one.

That would be the case if the goal was to reduce total race time, but that is not actually the case. The FIA asks for tyres with a degradation profile, such that one-stop and two-stop strategies are roughly equally appealing to the teams. Pirelli does not deliver on this, since the one-stop is clearly superior on most track at the moment. The fact that low-deg tyres are faster overall, does not change anything in regards to the fact that they aren’t meeting their customer’s demands.

        • Yeah when you look at the product the FIA asked for you have to say Pirelli failed to deliver this year. And you can also tell it’s a failure due to all the times Pirelli themselves predicted a two-stop would be faster, only for all the teams to go “no no, this was always a clear one-stop” after the race. This has happened multiple times.

      • True but when the medium has almost the same lifespan as the hard it makes you question what’s going on

  • All reports from the weekend say the hard is the best to be on for the race, unless there’s a SC it’s a one stop
