So… If I’ve already got Halo CE and halo Master Chief collection, what is the incentive to get this version?

Games@lemmy.world•A Modern Setup Guide for the PSP-2000 (Jailbreak, Plugins, and More)by007Ace@lemmy.caEnglish
1 monthThey’re about the same now. You can do temporary or permanent. You can get a SD card adapter to not use their proprietary storage.
And then you can install all psp stuff done there too.
I traded mine in when I got a steamdeck, I went back to a PSP instead of a vita for it’s size. Just installed a usb-c charger mod on my psp2000 too.
Games@lemmy.world•If Steam were to shut down tomorrow how much money would you have lost in total on games / DLC ??by007Ace@lemmy.caEnglish
1 monthGreat link. I really appreciate the savings too. $3400 total spend $3200 savings Bought my first game in 2017. Tough part is I was on humble choice for 2 years so that’s all savings throwing off my numbers. But not bad for 9 years of fun.

I think the main reason for this on PC has been the fact that there’s been piracy/licensing for so long. We used to have cd keys to prove you were using the legit disc. You bought a license, and there were cdchecks. Once you were able to prove ownership with a key instead of a disc, and create your own offline installers too? All the reasons to fight against it were gone. On consoles you can’t make offline backups. You can’t play without constant online license checks. And once the license date rolls over you can’t play anyway.
My gog backup, I can install offline tomorrow never touch the Internet and be fine.

I don’t see any handheld devices on there. I would argue that this question is about consoles not portables.
Games@lemmy.world•Day 696 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playingby007Ace@lemmy.caEnglish
2 monthsI really appreciate your posts. Many of our tastes overlap, but you have gotten very good at capturing the best angle of a game. Half the time I have to wonder; did I play the same game?
They both check the boxes here. First one I got near complete. The second one I’m still working through. Lots to do.

I think what’s happened here is, you are playing the games as shooters, room quake and unreal were not story driven games. It was either get the coloured key to progress, or kill everything between point a and b. All the newer games you listed have great story that drives the gameplay. And halo being the first real controller multiplayer experience brings a lot of nostalgia to people.
However it’s the same reason that I haven’t gotten on the ‘boomer shooter’ trend. They are essentially doing what you bring up. No added function or feature, they just feel like a reskin or mod of quake.

I bought mine straight from Bambu. Could smell burning electronics after 50p hours of use or so. Then it wouldn’t turn on. No interaction whatsoever. Contacted support, had to dismantle and send a few pics. A quick video of me plugging it in and the results. Then they shipped me a new power board. Installed it and carried on. It was very obvious what part had failed. I was frustrated at first but all told, it was a pretty good experience.

3 monthsIm doing the same on my steam deck. I wish there was a way to make the HUD/UI elements smaller. They do take a lot of real estate on the screen. And Dusk’s bloom is better than the original, but still very powerful!
Overall I am still enjoying! Play on!
Technology@lemmy.world•This is Android's new 'advanced flow' for sideloading apps without verification, includes one-day waiting periodby007Ace@lemmy.caEnglish
5 monthsIt looks like a glorified ‘developer mode’ switch that has the 1 day wait to prevent someone from grabbing your phone, turning on sideloading, installing some hazardous app, and then having their way with your info. This appears to be the best of both worlds.
Like when unlocking your bootloader wiped your info. Just do it first. not a year in to using your device, if thats your plan.

Excellent options. I can say for sure that neir is a great game and it can be short if you only do one playthrough. I did play on my steamdeck as well. Ni no kuni is fantastic but I still haven’t beat it. You really can’t go wrong.

I love this style of game. I always have one on the go. Some times they scratch the itch, others they miss just a bit. I found that the blasphemous series more dark souls than Metroidvania. Biogun, chasm, bloodstained, any of the ori games, haiku, the mummy demastered, turnip boy commits tax evasion, dust an Elysian tale… I have more but that’s a solid chunk. I’d love to hear from others if they do or don’t consider these in the same family.
Do you consider Zelda64 a MetroidVania? If so then Darksiders has that action, similarly control, soul reaver 1 and 2, and blood omen 2.

10 monthsI’ve been watching this one for a while. I really enjoy the style but I find the fact that they couldn’t figure out getting the world in the same hand drawn style is offsetting. I hope it’s something I just get used to?

This sounds like a troll comment, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. People should and do listen to everything trump says. Because it is important to know what is being imposed or done in the world. Just like this topic, if you don’t want to participate in discussion that is fine, but you should not be saying ‘I am willingly ignorant and everyone else is the problem’
- 11 months
Right? And not only that, how many down vote without participating in the discussion or even watching the video.
I understand holding a person to standard. But to say ‘I didn’t watch, I didn’t read but I don’t like the guy.’ that’s not what online community or discussion are about.

Absolutely 100% Once they had gotten the announcement out, and the public could see that there had been no donations, it should have been handled by professionals. Jirard wanting to know where the money went was important to him and was something that he had committed to right from the start. From his video it sounded like it came down to his morals on the donation or his commitment to donate right after the annual events. It’s a no win situation once he was aware in 2023.

My goal is to support developers. Not to own a game. If I just wanted to play i would pirate. Download it and store the game files on my backups. I had a collection of CDs to install games from and I don’t even own a CD ROM anymore. Steam is a delivery system that allows me to sync my saves and support developers. That’s about it.
