Finamp works pretty well for me. I’m curious about Jellify but it’s not in the Android app stores, so it’ll be a bit more work for me to try it out. Anyone have thoughts/experience with Jellify? All I know so far is Finamp uses Flutter and Jellify uses React Native.

If I’m understanding the OP’s use case, Syncthing is a poor choice for this. It’s great for power-user secure syncing, but not for casual sharing.

5 costs of self-hosting by Ty Sherback is good but I had the opposite experience re: electricity costs… it’s been much cheaper than cloud hosting for me
