Bosses agreed on Tuesday to “increase the numbers of mandatory pit stops in the race”, according to a statement from governing body the FIA.

The FIA said the plan would be “further discussed” at F1’s sporting advisory committee.

But insiders have told BBC Sport the plan is for drivers to have to do two pit stops and use all three available tyre compounds during the Monaco race.

In the event of a wet race, drivers would still have to do two stops, although tyre choice would be more flexible.

Or you could, you know, just remove that race from the calendar and replace it with an actual exciting track, but instead we still have a boring race.

The track is plenty exciting, just not for racing the current crop of F1 cars. Qualifying is still one of the thrills of the whole season, and I watched Formula E around Monaco a few years ago have an absolute barnstormer of a race with enough overtakes to make you faint.

I do agree that two mandatory pit stops is not the right solution for F1, though.

Don’t know how effective it’ll actually be.

Another Ricciardo or Bottas like pitstop incident to spice up the race, perhaps?

Obligatory “Obvs just race somewhere else”

I really enjoyed portimão and mugello from the covid season! Sepang… Anywhere in Germany… Anything other than another street race
