It is now a public service to destroy any Ring camera you see
Not to nitpick but Ring is owned by Amazon so it feels redundant to say Ring will be joining Amazon
If you have a Ring camera or other product, now is the time to get rid of it. Be sure and tell Amazon why.
And if your neighbor has one, now is the time to break it.
Nah, just print out a photo of some horrific skin condition and put it right in front of the camera.
It feels weird up voting this
Ring will continue to enshitify their product. They’ve reached the… you are the product stage of this service. All you have to look forward to are slightly better cameras every iteration, ai garbage, reduced features, and yearly price increases. Your video will be used to train models and/or sold to the highest bidder. Maybe they’ll split a feature off and make you pay more for that thing you’ve been using.
Are Euphy devices infected?
Eufy devices have never been end-to-end secured, so assume that they are.
Does that include cameras outside of the US?
Microsoft testified they have no way to prevent the US government from accessing European data that should be protected by gdpr if requested/subpoenaed by the US government.
Expect the same from Amazon.
If the police asked me for my camera footage with a good reason I’d probably give it to them. It should be my choice though so I’m never going to buy a camera that’s not local storage.
