Telegram said it had removed more than 274,000 groups and channels related to child sexual abuse material in 2026.
Why is no one in jail for this then??
- jpreston2005@lemmy.worldEnglish2 hours
zuckerburg and his shitty company explicitly allow this shit because it makes them money, and only ever remove it, feigning ignorance, once their actions are condemned by a government. profiting off of child sex abuse.
zuckerburg profited off child sexual abuse.
The longer I stay sober, witnessing events like this, the less willing I am to subdue my ever-strengthening desire to burn shit down

found that Instagram has been running paid adverts promoting child sexual abuse material
Uh oh… hopefully somebody goes to jail for that.

Making them stop is the extent of what society allows as punishment for companies doing something an individual would go to jail for.

Society in general worldwide.
Including but not limited to India.

Oh that’s bad because it means that you are Usamerican and have no clue (which is sometimes the same)

- What countries have prosecuted anyone for being in the Epstein files?
- Has the Catholic church or any mainstream religion suffered any consequences for decades of horrible behavior?
- What countries, except for a few in east Asia, hold CEOs and other people in leadership positions accountable for mass harm to anyone other than the wealthy and powerful?
- Bernie Madoff is famous for being punished for running a pyramid scheme, but that was only because he ripped off the wealthy. Same with Enron, they screwed over people in power.
- Has any country punished any of the people in positions of power for all the child porn their image generators pumped out?
Let me know where people are actually being held legally accountable on a regular basis.

4 hoursIt’s really interesting. The old web was the wild west, and back then you really had to know where to look for shady stuff (except the morons who put it on the open web and were sacked by the respective authorities). Nowadays this shit is commercialized and running ads on social media - as if protecting children does not actually have anything to do with privacy violations, age verification, ALPRs or preventing teens from using social media, but rather actual police work that doesn’t create a population that is naked to the eye of the state.
Everyone who goes for backdooring encryption and ID verification just wants to automate the punishment of dissidents who want something different than the ruling class.

Yeah, I quite “love” this BS.
On one hand, these tech megacorps are pushing for privacy violating measures to “protect the children”
On the other hand they’re literally profiting off child abuse and refuse to stop it. See e.g. Roblox refusing to deal with paedos because they were the highest paying customers…

3 hoursRoblox is the worst of the bunch, exploiting unpaid child work and doing nothing against the real predators.

Bad (but tolerated by Google/Facebook) side-effect of Programmatic Advertising (automated auction of ad spaces) is, that malvertising and crap gets in.
