Man I just spent like an hour reading about the mammoths and it made me kinda sad.
The idea of being on an island and they just die before they can repopulate seems so sad. Imagine the last few must’ve known the end was nigh. I know elephants and cry and feel grief so I assume mammoths might too.
2 daysWe know a lot more about when the mammoths died than we do about the construction of the pyramids.
It’s all the same story, I suspect. The mammoths worked themselves to death erecting one final magnificent series of works for us to enjoy, to memorialize themselves.

I mean at least OP didn’t just post a link to the Reddit post. I’ve seen some of that lately and well, I ditched Reddit for a reason. I downvote anything that links to any non-federated social media.
I didn’t even know there was a Reddit post. I encountered another fun fact about people who lived at the same time. Looked it up. Found a blog post of 20 crazy examples like that, including the mammoth thing. Thought, “that’s hard to believe.” Looked it up on Wikipedia. I’ll be damned. Shared it here.
I will ensure all future facts have never been mentioned on Reddit…? (jk but do you hear how you all sound? Jesus.)

You misunderstood or maybe I wasn’t clear. I had no issue with your post. It was a genuine TIL for me and I found it interesting. I saw the other comment and was just venting that I saw several posts today that linked directly to a Reddit post rather than the original source. Not a fan of that. But your post, solid. Thanks!

If you didn’t learn anything from a TIL post, you can just keep scrolling. I didn’t know this fact and I was on Reddit for 6 years, until the API crap. Karma isn’t real; if you have a concern about the community’s quality, message a mod.
