      Can’t help but imagine this would result in having to “read” and sign a 70 page ToS and 30 page Privacy Policy before we can buy groceries.

        sounds like a job for foss AI. I’m sure a ToS specific model running on a CPU would be more than enough. I think that’s what Pegasus does and I’m sure there are more. copy and paste, get a ELI5, then decide.

    More perfect union did a few stories about this. Beware the bill that looks like it helps but secretly opens the door to doing the same thing. Basically, don’t believe what you see until someone you trust says it will actually help.

      Don’t trust it until lawyers have had months to examine the exact wording. Loopholes are to easy to hide. Often a other wise good bill will have something awful in it such that you must oppose the whole

    For those not in NJ trying to avoid this, pay in cash and punch in a random phone number at the register.

    You may need to try a few numbers at self-checkout to find a working one, but it’s surprisingly easy. Rotate the numbers to dirty up the data of these parasites.

        “loyalty cards” are common. stores (and each of their 369354764 data sharing “partners”) get to track everything you buy and when. in exchange, you get token “discounts” on a small selection of products. some stores have done away with the actual physical cards, and use mobile phone apps or just the mobile phone number to track you.
