I don’t have a backlog of PS games due to mainly playing Xbox for the last 20 something years. That’s why subscription services can make sense, you play through games you’ve missed out on. Kind of like sub hopping for tv streaming, you build up a back log, sub for a few months then move to the next.
Yeah I was shocked at the overlap of titles between the 2. If I had noticed that the last price hike, I might have switched sooner.
Even if that was the intention, I used the platform while it worked for me, and I saw value. The minute I didn’t see the value, I left the platform. No tech company (and most companies) has had my loyalty for years. The minute they do something I don’t agree with, I’m out.
I know it’s not better, but it has a bunch of the catalog from Game Pass as well as a bunch of PS titles I’ve missed while being on Xbox.

I paid for a service KNOWING I was renting. KNOWING the service would eventually enshitify. KNOWING it was unsustainable at past prices. I rode the wave as long as it made sense, the ride is now over. It’s just like the Movie Pass deal a few years ago, milk it for all its worth while you can.

Turned off my recurring billing. I’ll have about 3 months then it’s bye bye. I have been a customer since 360, but now will probably sign up for Playstation Network for the first time.

FYI - as of this posting sites like cdkeys (now loaded) have some og pricing but it’s quickly rising. Buy em if you want to get through games like Outer Worlds 2 before dropping service.
I haven’t been able to buy cheaper months since the last price hike. Cdkeys had one sale and it sold out insanely fast.
I used to be a huge advocate for Game Pass. I’ve played so many games I never would have without, and have saved so much from buying games and not liking them.
30 a month is insane. It now outpaces my buying rate and I can’t justify it. The lower tiers just don’t do it for me. They finally killed an Xbox Live customer since the 360.
I did a similar early run. Everything clicked and then took me FOREVER to get past the 2nd one again.

If you have a GI disease and you don’t happen to have 7 cents, or the network is down, or the power is out, you accidentally lost your phone, or a million other things that could go wrong with this, the alternatives are dehumanizing.

The Paperwhite was magnitudes cheaper than a Kobo. I wanted a Kobo but just didn’t have the funds at the time. I use the Paperwhite and have never connected it to wifi, thank God for them not tanking usb downloads. Yet.
All he had to say was “we are working on it, in the meantime, use some frame gen, or bump your res down. Our bad”. But no, he had to be a dick about it.
Back in the day, Gran Turismo took forever to come out with, I believe, 3 or 4. I wanted a new racing game, and was in the market for a new console. Forza had just come out. Xbox has been my main console since.
However, if it had been multiplatform, I would have stayed PS.
