Everyone was so expecting this, and yet…

It never prompted me. Zen’s my default and I didn’t even open Edge once on my laptop.
On my other computer I’m considering Mint or Ubuntu tho, but want to test first before migrating.
It’s the same as “Google said this”. Before AI, Google could say nothing, it’s a search engine. Same with gpt - it’s a tool to access information from different sources.
Just having information out in the Internet / on a search index / accessed by LLM doesn’t make it relevant or credible…
And what buffles me: it’s pretty easy to set up gpt to cite sources and provide the links, filtering through sources that a user trusts. Why neither of my friends do it? Why “gpt said” is even an argument in a discussion?..
Same on Voyager on Android

Their world is mostly America, so I’m very skeptical about the claim.

I don’t like where it’s going, and I dislike Palantir, but I also strongly disagree with calling manual work “peasant” labour. There’s nothing wrong with working with your hands.

I like LLMs and use them a lot for boring task. It’s a nice tool, but I’d love to see it being marketed as such, and not as a panacea or a catastrophe. And gosh, I’d love people to stop shoving it down people’s throats. No, Adobe, I don’t need a summary, and I see it’s a long document, stop wasting time and resources…
Because men cannot give birth, they engage in other types of high-risk activities, such as riding a motorcycle.
Seriously though, what’s a procreative management?
I didn’t try to do the purchase, but very nice to know the company blocked the purchase! I was also very happy with the product too. What a difference from the likes of Adobe.
I almost bought publisher last week, and postponed till Black Friday. Just wow!!!
I have tried Comet from Perplexity and I don’t get the hype.
Having used various AI tools for a while, I find them incredibly useful in my professional life. But packaging them into an environment that’s supposed to overhaul my own decisions in my digital life seems to be excessive, unnecessary, and harmful.
There is a popular children’s cartoon in Russia, from Soviet times. A boy gets transferred to a fairy tail land and wins himself two magical helpers that do everything for him. They make a lot of candies for him and then eat them. The kid was shocked: “So you’re going to even eat everything yourself?! - Yuuup!”
I feel it’s the same faulty system. I’d rather wish the generative toolkit being developed for the intended uses. Instead, it feels like the battles against unhelpful telephone bots that do everything except for answering your actual inquiry. But inside your own PC, for God’s sake! Just why?.. it bugs me why companies invest money in something that I really, really can’t understand the purpose of. My only guess it’s to scam general public and use their usage data for training the actual usable models - who knows what for, but my inner conspiracy theorist screams “military”.
Disclaimer: I’m a designer, not a tech specialist.
Thanks a lot! I looked into it, and it seems it doesn’t run the last version, but works fine with the old ones. I’ll look more into it!
Thank you for the reply. I need to run Rhino 8, and apparently it doesn’t reliably work through wine. It’s my main software I use professionally, and moving to something like Blender is unfortunately not an option.
I’d go for Lunix, if the software I need for work would I run on it. Thinking about keeping Win 10 on a separate disk, since my laptop is not eligible for Win 11.
Interesting. Same in construction industry!
