And the CCs don’t even get the dub dialog right. Names are beyond mangled it looks like they’re trying to run it through a realtime recognition system to do auto captions. It’d be worlds better if they just uploaded the ADR script at that point.
Have this odd bug where CC is enabled at first on every episode and man, it’s bad. Luckily subs for JP dubs are somewhat decent but I feel bad for anyone who needs closed captioning.
And it gets even better. Instead of up to 33% leaving, say 50% of that group convert to Premium instead of Ultimate. That isn’t any lost revenue since the price is going up to what Ultimate used to be. So that cushions their numbers even more.

Kindle Unlimited is the big thing that keeps my wife on her Kindle. She goes through books like candy and it’s made it seriously economical without the trouble of loading it via her computer.

And this is exactly why Google did away with Manifest v2 (what uBlock runs on) and why they wanted to introduce their “web integrity” standard. At that point the pages would be signed with ads and in the signature didn’t match the page wouldn’t even be shown.
They tried to play it off as “ensuring that you truly get the correct copy of the page and no bad hackers have intercepted it” but really it would have 100% forced ads.
They don’t really need to scrape. They just have to set up their own federated instance and the ActivityPub protocol will willingly hand it all to them in a nicely parsable format.
In other words their response was “hey dumbass here’s what happened, now move along”. They didn’t do anything except school you.
As much as people hate on dubs, this one reason I’m glad I tend to focus on them. The ADR team does a great job of translating and localization. Is it word for word the same as Japanese? No, if you want that, use AI. This keeps the spirit while making sure it’s more culturally understandable.
