It’s only because I’ve flown a ton in my life, and after the first few times it just becomes a hassle. Plus, I’m 6’4" and the seats are only getting smaller. I’m not afraid of any part of flying, I’m just grumpy about it.

Not OP, but I personally hate the whole experience. Here’s how it goes:

      1. Stress about getting to the airport on time; need to be early enough to get through security, but not so early that I’m stuck sitting there for hours
      2. The line to check bags always takes forever, and the line to go through security seems to grow while waiting for the bag line
      3. Get eye raped by the security machines, and last time I went the agent felt me up
      4. The terminal is always on the opposite end of the airport, and the food court is on the other side from that terminal, and everything in the airport is way more expensive than it should be
      5. Waiting on the tarmac for the runway to clear sucks, since you can’t get up and can’t use the tray table
      6. Getting airborne, my ears always need to pop, and if I have any congestion, it hurts; I also get a little nauseous if there’s any bumps on the way up
      7. The chairs are uncomfortable, and being tall doesn’t help one bit; I can never fall asleep, and there’s always a crying baby a couple rows away (sometimes it’s mine…)
      8. There’s often turbulence at just the wrong time, and I get nauseous and it lasts way longer than it should
      9. Landing always makes me a bit nauseous, especially if there’s turbulence
      10. There’s always some issue with getting to the gate where we have to hang out in the airplane on the tarmac
      11. Waiting for baggage at the claim sucks, since everyone bunches up at the carousel, and the ones closest never get theirs first
      12. Renting a car always has delays, so I can’t even leave the airport when I finally get my bags, and all the while I’m hungry and tired

The whole experience just sucks. It was novel the first few times, but now it’s a chore and I end up feeling like crappy even after short flights.

For me, it’s takeoffs. I voluntarily pay to sit on top of 380,000 pounds of fuel, someone flips an ignition, and I sweatily await the laws of physics to beat the laws of thermodynamics. I clap when we reach altitude – instead of the other way around (landing gracefully like a bird).

Everything else is quite enjoyable. Including the inflight radio channel where you can listen live to air traffic comms; and then feel the pilot command the ship to it.
