Palou was not ordered to pay anything related to Formula 1 losses McLaren said it suffered when Palou decided to remain with Chip Ganassi Racing rather than move to McLaren’s IndyCar team in 2024. All the damages awarded to McLaren were tied to losses the IndyCar team suffered by Palou’s change of mind.
I figured it would go this way. He just got a hard lesson with signing contracts.
But to be clear, I absolutely get where he’s coming from and I think Zak Brown is a piece of shit for it. It’s pretty clear he would’ve never signed the contract if Zak hadn’t dangled an F1 seat in front of him, so Zak created a situation where regardless of outcome he would be screwing over Palou. I can only wish this fuckery will end up costing the brand way more than 12 million.
