• Guess I better finish control, I started playing by got distracted by the first berserker khazan

      • Good reminder, I did buy Alan wake 2 on sale, kinda forgot I had it because it’s on epic and I never launch heroic lol. Thanks. I’ve heard Alan wake 2 is quite good but it seems like it ended up being surprisingly niche

        • If you’ve liked Alan Wake 1 then you’ll like 2. Definitely recommend the series.

          • I hated 1 but played through it before 2 came out because it looked, and turned out to be, right up my alley.

Seriously, it’s a miracle a sequel ever happened with such a terrible first installment

edit: Two sequels, I forgot about American Nightmare, which somehow has a worse story, voice acting, and pacing, but less unpleasant gameplay. Also, despite providing seemingly important context heading into 2, wholly unecessary

It’s incredibly good. I would say it’s only niche on PC because of the epic exclusivity. If you like RE games, twin peaks, the first season of True Detective, Se7en, etc. you’ll love this game.

I have bought it a couple times for different platforms just because I love it so much.

    • Control is well worth it. Quite possibly the best translation of a SCP-style universe, while retaining a serious/creative tone throughout.

The first 15 minutes is one of the best intros to a game I’ve ever seen. It latches on to this crazy weirdness in so many directions at once, and frankly, the weirdness doesn’t really stop throughout. As soon as you get the strangest explanations for one mystery, you’re presented with several more.

  • This makes me want to replay Alan Wake 2 again. That game is my drug of choice. I’ll have to go through control again too while I’m at it

AW2 is in my top 5 games of all time. It’s just incredible. So happy to see other people out there enjoying it as much as I am.

Yeah I’m pissed about it but Alan Wake Remastered and AW2 probably won’t ever come to Steam since it was published and at least partially funded by Epic.

          • Totally funded by Epic. Lake tried for over a decade to get anyone to want to publish it, it no one was interested. Not only did Epic put the money up, they had a clause of profits over a certain amount going only to Remedy.

It is a fact. We’d never have Alan Wake 2 without Epic picking up the bill!

That’s what I thought but wasn’t sure. I don’t use epic games store but they have published games I’ve liked over the years. Happy to have AW2 and I just play it on PS5 and Series X. Not that huge of a deal but it did hurt its PC audience. Control seems pretty popular on Steam so I’m sure they can see the difference in sales numbers.

      • I think it’s a top contender for my favorite of all time. Sometimes my heart will wander a little bit but at the end of the day Alan Wake 2 is the only game that has sunk its claws into me so deep and has possessed me in such a way. It’s ironic in a way. Almost as if I’ve traded places with Alan in the Dark Place. He gets free but my heart and mind are still there

It’s the first game I completed, then started the new game+ straight away. Such a good game!

Though it was funny seeing “Max Payne”, now that he’d gotten, what, 20 years older.

  • Buzzing for this. Hopefully it’s up-to-scratch with their previous releases. Loved pretty much everything they’ve put out.

  • Cautiously optimistic, but I’m wondering if this is going to turn into some damned Playstation exclusive or not. And I don’t like how much they are pushing this pre-order crap, but I guess that’s every major launch title nowadays.

      • Doesn’t matter. Pre-ordering is stupid on any platform.

But, yeah, looks like this isn’t a PS exclusive after all, thank god.

Yeah but I am willing to lose that battle nowadays. I gotta bigger fish.

Anyone know if there is a non-YouTube source for the video? (Google want me to ‘connect my account’ to ‘verify my age’ and, well, screw that.)

      • I do like me a good soulslike… But I also liked the Service Weapon and all of Jesse’s telekinetic powers. Plus, Remedy knows how to make damn good shooters, and I like their FPS (despite being 3rd person) style. So I’m actually kinda torn.
