I feel like FromSoft did that somewhat recently but I could be misremembering.

I don’t think it was quite a silent launch, but more like a game announcement the day of or the day before it came out. I could be thinking of a different studio though.

From what I understand, Bethesda will be making Fallout 5 while Obsidian makes New Vegas 2 or something similar. Maybe they’ll have two Fallout series now, one from each dev. Sort of like how there’s 3 studios making CoD games (I think, I haven’t touched that franchise since the 360 days).

I’m a big fan of both James Bond and Hitman WoA so I was super excited to hear about this. I’m dedicated to being a patient gamer though so I’ll have to wait a while first. I am really excited though.

With the rising cost of storage I wouldn’t be surprised to see a boom in smaller games. Something doesn’t need to be 100GB to be fun. Skyrim was once small enough to fit on a 360 disc and I’ve managed to pour thousands of hours into it.

I’m so jealous you got to experience Portal 2 for the first time recently. That’s an all-time favourite for me.

Playing games as an adult that you couldn’t as a kid/teen is one of the great joys of adulthood.

The 360 feels like the last era of games for fun over games for profit, at least to me. It was also the last console generation where you could just insert a disc and play the game, no downloading required. That’s huge, at least to me. I’m totally fine with the smaller game files, that’s a trade off I’m willing to make for the convenience of plug and play (or insert and play, I guess).

I mean, that’s fair, everyone’s different. But the game turns 15 in November, it’s been re-released so many times that there’s many opportunities to pick it up again, and it’s really easy to start up a new playthrough and get where you want pretty quickly. Most content is available right away if you know what you’re doing.

For me, it’s one of my comfort games. I used to play it so much one time that it sorta snowballed and I played it because I played it a lot. When I didn’t know what to play, it was my default. Elden Ring has since replaced it but I don’t have the time I used to for video games anymore. I think I might have 3 hours gaming in the last 6 months.

Most, probably Skyrim. Across all platforms I’ve only spent around $80, and have around 5,600 hours in, so about 1.4¢ per hour.

Least is far harder. There have been several games I’ve spent $80 on that I played for a bit, didn’t like, and never touched again.

For cheap games that I got a ton of enjoyment out of but maybe not necessarily a ton of playtime: Gunpoint, The Silent Age, Celeste, Limbo, Inside, Stanley Parable, Monaco (I do actually have a fair amount of time in this one but don’t have hours tracked, maybe 20¢/hr but those hours were thoroughly enjoyed), Little Nightmares. Probably more I’m forgetting at the moment.

The Silent Age

I hope I get downvoted because it means this game got more attention than I thought, which it greatly deserves. I used to play it on iOS many years ago now. I haven’t played it in several years and probably still have all the puzzles memorized. It’s not filled with super obscure puzzles, but it’s the right amount of challenge with a fantastic atmosphere and vibe. Seriously, if you don’t completely hate point and clicks, give it a shot. It’s truly an excellent game.

I hadn’t felt that feeling in many years, until I played Elden Ring’s DLC. It was the first time since being a kid that I felt a true sense of awe and wonder. I wish I could relive that feeling again.

My wife still has her 360 too, so we’ve got two at home, just one is put away but I know exactly where it is. Maybe I’ll give it a go one of these days.

I’ll always have a 360 laying around ready to be played, so probably that if I had to choose. Every other console has come and gone, and now I don’t have time for games anymore, though I do have a pc and a ps5 (ps5 is mostly for BD/DVD these days), but I still have my 360 plugged in and off, just needs to be turned on and hdmi connected.

I thought I was the only person who enjoyed the remaster. I got it for PS5 instead of PC because I wasn’t sure my PC could handle it, and it ran very smooth for me. I know some people had issues but I put around 80 hours in and never had any problems. I still play the original Oblivion if I wanna play keyboard and mouse but I think I prefer the remaster if I’m just gonna turn off my brain and play for a while.

On iOS you can get uBlock Origin Lite for Safari and it works very well. You can also download the Orion browser which lets you get Firefox and Chrome extensions and can get uBO or whatever else that way too.

Evolve. Even just against bots without any DLC characters is still a ton of fun. I recently replayed it on PlayStation and had a blast getting all the base game hunters and monsters.

I really enjoyed my first playthrough. Never felt the need to play again, but I got a solid 65 ish hours in and enjoyed it the whole time. I haven’t played it for a while now, maybe I should do another playthrough.
