Die in my sleep and be healthy until then.
Be loved and respected by the people in my life.
Publish my book on surviving office politics. It’s sort of a cross between the art of war with the pragmatism of Machiavelli and leaning towards an espionage theme. Eventually publish my memoirs, which started off as a completely different book. Other than that, build more reclaimed wood projects and start selling them after creating an Etsy store.
See that kid is happy.
Be happy.
Whats the plan?
Currently winging it.
Does your immediate family have a generally happy and harmonius history or the opposite?
I didn’t have an easy upbringing, but everyone was trying their best to varying degrees of success.
What good lessons do you remember, like just generally?
Children don’t need much besides love.
Foster curiosity and creativity.
If you split up and can’t get along, don’t make your kids the messengers of your personal animosities.
1: Have one of my stories be a book, movie, or video game.
- Publish my book or finish the playable demo for my game. A full time job and time constraints block this for me a lot of the time but I’m slowly chipping away at it.
2: See the world.
- Try to save for the trip I’ve always wanted to take. But let’s face it, just being alive is expensive.
- Get my passport. Money constraints put this on hold.
- Buy the DSLR camera I have my sights on. This I’m currently working on.
Really, I just want to be able to look back and say “That was fun. I’m ready now.”
What camera have you decided on?
I’m thinking either a Sony A6700 or FX30. I currently have a rebel T5i so I think it’s about time for an upgrade
My first was the T1i! Currently I have a Canon 70D, but that is pretty old (still takes good pics though). A6700 is a solid camera. I looked at Sonys for a long time. FX30 looks to me to be very video focused? I’m not too familiar with it. What drew you that one? I’ve been planning on the Panasonic S5IIX for a while. Now I see the S5IIE just came out, som I’m going to go read that review lol. Feel free to hit me up if you ever want to geek out on camera hardware. I’m not a pro, but I have fun with all the tech.
Also, List 3 things you can do that would be consistent and help towards attaining those outcomes
Outcome 1: an always reasonably clean, organized home space
= the same level of clean and organized that I would have had to have scrambled to clean every time to have it be minimally presentable for a reasonable hypothetical fellow visitor
-
Everything has a place and by the end of the day/before bed, do a sweep thru place to clear all the surfaces and everywhere else until everything is back in its place. I’ll know its in its place because the next time i need it, especially if I need it during a phone call, I will know where to get it immediately, and if its in the wrong place, i will often lose track of it and not have it available regularly
-
Stop buying new stuff, or at least dispose of multiple old things to compensate. Sometimes the best firstline strategy is dont add to an untenable state, that can be a force for good and a sufficient effort in itself. Make deals with yourself that get you both more of what you want at the expense of what you dont want
-
Reduce friction by making it easy to do the things that promote clean and organized state Ask: why does this task overwhelm or bother me, is there an example of something you did before that was a positive and that you could turn to again?
Outcome 2:
-
