SassyPants@lemmy.mlEnglish4 monthsHe got burned so hard with how he hyped No Mans Sky that I think he is changing his tone with their new game. The devs earned my respect back with all the free updates to NMS, so I will be keeping an eye on this one, and I respect him for toning back the hype. 9295
Kronusdark@lemmy.worldEnglish4 months100%, he’s doing the right thing. It will be out when it’s out. I’m sick of hype trains anyways. 40
Eladriagon@lemmy.blahaj.zoneEnglish4 monthsI would be totally fine if they dropped a trailer, Nintendo-style, that ended with “Oh by the way, it’ll be out in a week.” Take your time, Hello Games. Get it right! 11
simple@piefed.socialEnglish4 monthsAt the same time i still would like to see some gameplay. The game was revealed in two years ago and we still don’t know how it plays 789%8
very_well_lost@lemmy.worldEnglish4 monthsConsidering the number of NMS updates that are just back-ported features that were created for Light No Fire, I suspect the game loop will be pretty much the same as what we already have in NMS 9
rafoix@lemmy.zipEnglish4 monthsHe didn’t hype No Man’s Sky. He lied about the game and what it had at release to trick potential customers into making him rich. “Lie” - a verb with a clear definition and there’s no reason sugarcoat it. Also, the game didn’t have “free” updates. They made millions selling an unfinished piece of crap to a lot of suckers. It was already paid for. 578%7
athairmor@lemmy.worldEnglish4 monthsI’ve gotten so much out of NMS by now that I would prepay for Light No Fire and not care of it wasn’t playable for 5 years. But, I don’t blame them for being cautious and it cements my “loyalty“. Contrast with Subnautica which I might have said the same about until they sold out to Krafton and the ensuing drama. 263%5

That sounds like early access with extra steps
Yeah, early access with an apology.
