another live service game bites the dust

Sad news. This was one of my first VR experiences. Paintball game was a lot of fun.
socsa@piefed.socialEnglish
2 daysSame. I spent easily 100 hours just doing paintball. It seemed like they had a cool thing going, sad to see it die.

Yeah, I spent a lot of time on there over COVID lockdown, I still go back and play paintball occasionally. Not as upset over losing it as Echo Arena, but still sad. Echo was a great game, still miss it

2 daysI didn’t realize Echo Arena closed. That game was epic. Like you were in Ender’s Game.

Sad to see, but extra sad that they made no considerations about releasing their servers
Wildmimic@anarchist.nexusEnglish
2 daysBut at least they are building a tool to export the rooms into unity which will be available in a week - that is more than most live service games do

2 daysI actually really liked this game and was hoping to play again when the Steam Frame came out. 😢

2 daysProbably a strategic move due to the rising server costs and the potential age verification requirement.
What a shame, my kids loved this.

I played Red Room a decent amount when it first came out and hadn’t been completely taken over by children, and it was a great time! Apparently I had earned some fancy items, and over the last 8 years I’ve had like 20 people cold-messaging me on various platforms because I used the same username on Rec Room and they wanted the items.

2 daysNow they can stop spamming me with emails that im unable to unsubscribe from.
Did you wake up in a bad mood, or is this just the personality everyone who is misfortunate enough to meet you is stuck with?

It’s just what they expect everyone would think is a great comment since they themselves probably never enjoyed/experienced the game - thinking it may be silly. They may or may not believe the comment that they posted to be true, in fact they’re more than likely indifferent on the game altogether. They just felt the need to contribute something possibly riveting to get a reaction one way or another.

Yeah, it’s attention seeking, really. It’s not hard to feel a bit sorry for them.
- warbosstodd@piefed.socialEnglish2 days
Oh let me be perfectly clear: I give precisely zero fucks what anyone’s hot takes on my opinions are. Never take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from. Pay attention to me or don’t. Makes no difference.

Yet your fragile ego wouldn’t let you go without announcing you were leaving. Someone of stronger character would have chose to just move along. Like this.

Used it quite a bit actually and found it to be overrun by screaming children and vapid, lonely people. It wasn’t anywhere as near as bad as Meta Horizon but still pretty awful. Poor moderation, not enough resources dedicated to making it viable on anything with a processor more powerful than a potato and just not great. We all wanted Ready Player One and we just got a cartoon IRC channel.
