I’d personally like to see a LotR in KCD2 format, maybe centred around Rohan or Dale.
I hope they go in depth with side questing and gameplay loops, rather than focusing on the main story. Kind of how Skyrim was a sidetracking paradise.

Fingers crossed for a playable Eomer stamping out orc raids across Rohan. Maybe with a tragic goal of “can’t stop them all but can buy time for the people who banished me”

2 daysI’m super excited for a new KCD adventure.
Make it a prequel so I can roam around Poland as Adder whoring and getting into trouble.
Edit: And also bring back the OG Godwin voice actor.

Aren’t the book rights a tangled mess and future productions are only allowed to use things from the trilogy plus appendices? I remember that being the excuse for the show not following the Silmarillion canon, but it’ll suck if there’s this big open-world game but it’s limited to the stuff we’ve seen a hundred times already.

2 daysThe show didn’t actually have the rights. If this new game has the proper rights then they won’t have that problem.

A spiritual successor to Lord of the Rings Online, which is still active?
ampersandrew@lemmy.worldEnglish
2 daysThat one was cancelled. My guess is it’s Lord of the Rings built on the bones of Kingdom Come, which funny enough might result in a better Elder Scrolls.

Oh my god. I just got hard. The life simulator peanut butter of KCD plus the chocolate of LOTR… It might be like Cyberpunk again, I’ll never stop playing.
Here’s hoping you are right.

2 daysAs long as I can carry an insane amount of crap and force vendors to buy it all from me - baskets, clothes irons, forks - then I will 1000% buy it

I don’t think their LOTR game is going to be a MMO. LOTRO is still active and pretty awesome to this day.

I played LOTRO at release for a couple months but couldn’t get into it, and the player base (at least on my server) was too small. I’m shocked to hear it’s still going.

Come check it out again if you want, its totally free for a TON of content, and the server Glamdring is quite healthy. I play mostly for nostalgia, but it still holds up imo.
