• Annoying, I won’t be able to access reddit posts as part of searches.

I really wish people hadn’t been so eager to abandon independent forums for hobbies.

While we are on the subject, fuck discord

Makes sense, you can’t really scrape the new one since it doesn’t show you the content you want.

  • Hahahaha

    I love watching reddit die.

edit I’ve had this account for 2 1/2 years with a 6.5k post count, every one of those was done with the intent of killing reddit, I see this as a war and I regret it not at all, this place is so much more promising and reddit needs to die.

    • I think it will have to link to “normal” Reddit, and if you’re logged into an account with the old Reddit setting checked it should redirect.

Of course this is just Reddit trying to make this less convenient and probably attempting to collect more data on old.reddit users, and I expect them to routinely “accidentally” break the redirect but we might be able to keep the bot ?

        • Yeah, you just add .rss at the end of the community, like https://www.reddit.com/r/feedly.rss or https://www.reddit.com/r/technology.rss

  • This is a reminder for reddit communities and users to move to the fediverse.

I still uses reddit without account to anonymously browse some communities, and have no intention to create an account.

  • I don’t get it… isn’t that what they were already doing? I have to log in and reset reddit to lesscrappier.reddit every damn time.

    • I’ve manually gone to old.reddit on mobile for years because the normal site blocks scrolling to advertise the app after a bit.

I’ve had an extension on desktop that redirects all reddit urls to old.reddit for even longer, since it comes up in search results so much.

Neither of these require being logged in today.

  • I was banned for saying “If you see a fascist, punch a fascist.” But, I’ve still been reading a couple of subs there. I guess this is the end of Reddit for me. Oh, well.
