Those are just well designed video games
…where immigrants are objectified and treated exactly as disposably and thoughtlessly as the droids are in Star Wars.
It actually really bothers me how Star Wars loves to charm the audience with charismatic clearly sentient robot slaves and yet doesn’t give a fuck about ANY of the ethical implications of all that fun except for the occasional flavor sideplot. I am tired of people normalizing this and laughing it all off cus aren’t the robot slaves cute when they grumble? (similar thing with LOTR and orcs basically, but ugly because ugly = evil).
They are sentient, it is fucked up to deal with it extremely inconsistently and it demonstrates a stunning lack of understanding of the responsibility storytellers have to subvert dehumanizing narratives that can lead to egregious systematic storytelling issues.
Star Wars unintentionally reflects the culture it came out of in many ways, and not in a good way.
Yes, very underrated (popularity wise not critically, it is reviewed very positively, as it should be).
The moment to moment gamefeel is superb!
Yes I think what everyone is trying to say but can’t quite put into words is that reddit is an order of magnitude larger than lemmy like a massive big box store is an order of magnitude larger than a corner mart & cafe and yet nobody would stand in the corner mart & cafe and conclude it felt less human in comparison to the big box store because so many less people passed through its doors.
The environment of a big box store is steeped in distrust and it is a space where spontaneous interaction is codified with deep suspicion.
A local mart or cafe on the otherhand is more likely to suggest trustful grounds to interact that may provide bridges over the roaring rivers of first impression.
That is a difference that is invisible if you are primarily looking through the lens of large statistical noisey trends, but no mistake that unmistakable difference between “big box store” and “cornermart & cafe” is a multiplicative factor acting on every moment and is of the type that can nullify extreme powerbalances by making the entire paradigm that carefully precipitated it irrelevant in a flash.
If nothing else I am consistent lol but my recommendation is Dokuwiki
https://www.dokuwiki.org/dokuwiki
There is no some obnoxious database just a single folder.
Everything except the initial install can be do in a nice GUI inteface and there are is a wonderful media browser with a great tagging system and everything.
There is a nice collection of Dokuwiki plugins that can tackle this use case I think.
Yes but add in a third Lemming and it is no longer a flamewar, it becomes a theatrical performance.
wow they didn’t say you could, rude
ICE is precisely the kinda thing the “The Department Of Homeland Security” would be there to defend us from if the DHS wasn’t also full of shit.
Fuck ICE
Hell yeah!
This is why so many highly intelligent people devote as much time in their lives to art as they possibly can.
It is only through art that you can begin to subvert an architecture of stolen and foreclosed futures.
In another world maybe Pynchon just became an unbelievably good editor for aeronautics technical journals.
Let us not forget that the rich, even on the allies side of WW2 (insofar as the rich keep up the theater of needing to pick a side) would rather not have had even a single Alan Turing if they could not impose a conservative trauma upon him and make him deny his basic self, and so he was executed and bigotry was preserved at a terrible cost we can never know the full extent of.
History is a nightmare from which we are trying to awake.
edit I am imagining the person who downvoted me was like “hey, I feel excluded as a homophobic computer nerd by this statement” -> downvote
It feels like halo 3 MP+, don’t listen to people who still bash the multiplayer, their opinion is out of date, whoever is currently calling the shots at Halo infinite’s multiplayer dev team clearly genuinely loves halo multiplayer, it is unmistakable in the whole vibe of big team battle.
There is also a forge mode like halo 3!
I meant nested desktop mode.
Download a file from a webrowser in nested desktop mode and then check in normal desktop mode where the file is. Can you access/see it? Is it in the spot that webrowser normally downloads too?
I think it is just the thorough and thoughtful way Linux explicitly deals with folder permission structures, opening a nested desktop creates an enclosed workspace within the current context, you aren’t supposed to use it to go everywhere and do anything on the OS I think.
Sd card beasts
If you like Halo, and I know this is scandalous to say, but try Halo Infinite on the Big Team Battle playlist!
Halo multiplayer has never been this good and I don’t necessarily say that because I am a massive fan of Halo Infinite, it is just undeniably damn good halo.
I am flying the shit out of attack and transport helis in Operation Harsh Doorstop on my steam deck which is truly a joy to fly with. The helis are fairly realistic which means flying them like a maniac is addictive as hell .
I have also been playing a lot more pvp Beyond All Reason as I continue to get more comfortable with playing using onboard joysticks and gyro controls. The biggest problem I have is RTS players can’t wrap their head around me not using a mouse (they aren’t very imaginative I guess, I don’t understand). This means that in situations my control scheme is less efficient than a mouse, players have ZERO patience with me but in the situations where joysticks + gyro is more efficient than mouse (certain types of micro, also placing buildings accurately but quickly) people either think I am a much higher level player trolling or that I am drunk or something because my cursor movements just don’t look like a mouse is doing them.
sigh just gotta wait longer until stuffy pc gamers who think a mouse is the only way actually shut up and listen, not holding my breath…
You don’t have access to your full home folder in *nested desktop mode though right?
For the record was he? Or was he just making a joke that didn’t land.
That’s funny because it’s not difficult at all to build an app like this.
It is a fuckton of unpaid work, it never feels right to talk about donating their time and effort like that.

I figured ITAD is more useful as you can quickly see historical prices for the games and their general rating scores.
If I just link directly to the bundle you don’t get any of that context included, which personally I always end up checking myself so shrugs.
