‘I was a functioning alcoholic’: Cliff Bleszinski opens up about addiction, recovery, and his hope to return to games

Lawbreakers was very fun and I miss it. Here’s to his newfound sobriety and hopefully a new cliffy B game announced in the next decade.

I’m really glad he got sober, and feel bad that he got sucked into the world of alcohol through work.

Tangentially related, I know someone who worked on Boss Keys actual last game, Radical Heights. I don’t blame Cliff at all, but it was essentially a cash grab on the battle royale genre based on PUBG and Fortnite’s success. It launched in early access in 2018-ish and was only available for like 6 months before the studio shuttered.

Hopefully Cliff is able to get back in the saddle and put out some amazing new properties.

It’s not easy breaking a cycle. Four months is a big deal.

Hopefully his next game is something really cool.
