yup - I understand that, not as simple though is it?
first thing I tried it failed on, probably because it is a news site and recent… thanks for the suggestion though
I’ve seen that dude in a million and one hipster coffee shops…
I have asked - no suggestions as of yet…
I have to say I think Peertube itself is good, but the content still isn’t there yet. Of course we all know that’s because there isn’t cash to be made on Peertube
The real irony is people on facebook moaning about their data being used…
+1 for yunohost, though it can be a slow solution. However it will get something up and running easily, provide certs etc. and let you start out on self-hosting. With a half decent old pc you can host a load of services. You could run your own lemmy instance for example. However a lot of newer things are often broken or fail to work in Yunohost (funkwhale and discourse are a couple of things that are beyond redemption)_
It depends… the OP is also using yunohost which can and does have some issues with higher port numbers, plus you also have to factor in if he is self hosting as I suspect, some routers also won’t properly forward higher port numbers either. Difficult to say but lowering the port number is one thing to try. Too many variables to really drill down and say what is happening
Cloudflare won’t connect to a port number that high. Drop it down to say 2536 and you will be fine
For me and the clients and fwiends I talk to the issue with the fediverse for them is the decentralised nature. Most of them are NOT tech inclined and the suggestion that they would have to choose a server and that choice will influence the experience is a deal breaker - pure and simple. To follow up then if they do join, the sheer lack of numbers baffles them and they quit
So just got back to this… so if it is parked on the bun you need to change the nameservers at cloudflare to actually get the domain to work. Without that step cloudflare can’t do much with it. Cloudflare will tell you your own personal cloudflare nameservers, porkbun will have set them to theirs, so firstly find out what the nameservers are set to in cloudflare. Work through this guide
https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/zone-setups/full-setup/setup/
Once cloudflare has the nameservers and they are resolving, which can take 24 hours, you can then route through your tunnel or whatever…
Not a fan of Amazon in any way shape or form, but for some purchases here in the UK they are simply miles ahead of other firms. Latest purchase by me, though not paid for by me is 2 x batteries for my wifes mobility scooter. 20% cheaper than anywhere else, took 1 week to arrive (not bad, not the best) but was so easy to order without all the hassle other solutions involve. We have a prime account still as there is some streaming stuff we also like to watch. Still (just) more pros than cons
Hey yes, early days with this instance. But seemed the right/correct place to ask generally…
Cloudflare aren’t perfect, but I still use them because for a free account the benefits outweigh the negatives like this… However to say the worlds leading publishers and AI are on board is simply not true…
Seen plenty of people who think this is a bad thing, do they just want everything to be crawled. I mean I don’t think this is the saviour but it has got to be better than wholesale theft
Try a few distros they all pretty much have strengths and weaknesses. Run Linux boxes here for servers and other tasks and a mix of uses
I must be in the minority but generally I like Win 11. Most of my clients still on Windows as well so I have to keep up to date…
Here in the UK Musk is just seen as an idiot. Some decent European EV solutions coming along but the Chinese cars are so much better value than Tesla OR the main European makes. Couldn’t happen to a nicer megalomaniac and as a plus I love seeing the monthly SpaceX explosions
As a fairly new user to lemmy I have found that the community can be pretty brutal and there are quite a lot of set things that are frowned upon. Windows always gets a lot of abuse, but for me here in the UK the amount of Mac and Linux users is miniscule, for example… yet Windows is frowned upon greatly. Sp whilst not raging, it is deffo anti a fair few things. I know it is to be expected as it is a fairly technical things to use lemmy/piefed/fediverse but it still makes me wince. Like everything these days, the less passionate just don’t post any more so it does bring out some strong responses
