My washing machine has a version of this. When on a support call you can hold your phone close to the washer and the phone microphone will pick up ultrasound error codes from the machine.
You have to be pretty close for this to work though.
Just go join a hobby club filled with guys, like electronics, radio, astronomy, FPV drones, RC cars, etc… Or if you’re more of a physical person: paintball, camping, fishing, shooting… Don’t do audio though, a lot of audiophiles are fucking dumb.
