  • I remember hearing in some interview that due to the nature of the prop they literally only had 1 take, and until they did it they didn’t know if the eyes were going to work like they should. Not like they had no idea what they were doing or anything, but anyone who’s done anything hands on can tell you how load bearing should is. And of course it had to be a very realistic head for such a close shot, so a ton of work had to go into it. Very nerve wracking to do in the moment, I’m sure!

  • Even if these attacks seem frightening on paper, the ERNW researchers are reassuring: many conditions must be met to carry out an eavesdropping attack. First and foremost, the attacker(s) must be within range of the Bluetooth short-range radio; an attack via the Internet is not possible. They must also carry out several technical steps without attracting attention. And they must have a reason to eavesdrop on the Bluetooth connection, which, according to the discoverers, is only conceivable for a few target people. For example, celebrities, journalists or diplomats, but also political dissidents and employees in security-critical companies are possible targets.

I guess they didn’t point this out because it’s kind of obvious, but it sounds like they also have to actually be on to be exploited. So it’s not going to turn on and start listening to you at least. Definitely concerning, but I’m still gonna be listening to my audio books and podcasts with my wireless headphones.

  • If they’re high quality editors who consistently put out a lot of edits then yeah, it is meaningful and insightful. Wikipedia exists because of them and only them. If most feel like they do and stop doing all this maintenance for free, then Wikipedia becomes a graffiti wall/ad space and not an encyclopedia.

Thinking the immediate disgust of the people doing all the work for you for free is meaningless is the best way to nose dive.

Also, you literally had to scroll past a very long and insightful comment to get to that.
