Where do you put your server without it getting destroyed by a house fire? (Genuine question, not rhetorical)

Where do you put your self-host server?

At home? Idk where y’all live but most American homes are made of wood, and that aint good for fires. (And even if not wood, fires can still exist.)

Just want to say: Proton’s Android app sucks ass. I had like 1000 photos and I had to manually download 25 at a time, if I choose more, like 50 or 75, the app would never finish downloading it and the process randomly stops, even if I disable “battery optimization”. That is just horrible. Even something sketchy like Mega allows you to download like 200 photos at a time, probably even more (but I have not tried yet).

I’m also curious, I’m not a programmer so I can’t understand the code, so I hope some nerd on Lemmy can go and take a look at the code 😉

Proton sucks, and its not even the whole CEO thing, I could barely download anything using their official Android app, and if it goes background, it just stops working (even with battery optimization disabled).

I mean, if you only use desktop, sure…

But their mobile app (at least the Android one) is garbage. You literally cannot have more than like 25 files downloading at once, imagine having 1000 pictures and have to manually download them all… 🤦‍♂️ (yes that’s me, I had 1000 photos and had to manually download them all 25 at a time so it doesn’t crash)

I mean, this is not new. They already do this in mainland China to comply with PRC laws…

Download Shelter - You can create a separate “work profile” that separates from you normal apps. Create a new google account within the work profile just for this purpose, and intall the app in the work profile. Apps inside the work profile can’t see anything on your normal profile.
