Even though I don’t use gamepass, it’s not a bad thing to have the option.

When something good happens I’ll say good job. When something bad happens I’ll call it out. It’s not like this is going to move back over to windows to get these, but you don’t need to be an asshole.

23 daysEzio and the world look like they’re from 2 totally different games lol
I would go with debian with a light weight desktop. If you have issues after that maybe puppy Linux?
Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Who is enjoying good success with Mealie's Meal planner? Does anyone have advice on how to tighten up the rules? I don't quite have as many queries as the Kodi or navidrome smart playlist function to byISolox@lemmy.worldEnglish
26 daysIt works fine for general planning. There’s even a random button if you just don’t want to choose.
I have a jank home assistant automation that adds my meal plans into my Google Calendar as well.
PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Valve releases drivers, notes to make Windows work on Steam hardware, but refuses to support it - doesn’t offer support for ‘Windows on Steam Hardware,’ gaming company provides resources ‘as is’byISolox@lemmy.worldEnglish
1 monthIt’s not the OS they planned on working with for the Steam Deck. It’s nice they supplied drivers at all for those who chose to do so.
Totally depends on the games you want to play. I have one because I love Smash Bros and the Xenoblade games.
If there isn’t any exclusives or third party games you’d want to play portable on it, I don’t see a good reason to.
I’ve been using Fedora KDE since V40.
I have had some weird issues in the past where a network adapter randomly won’t work on startup a few years back, but haven’t had issues since.
Also back when I had a Nvidia GPU, I remember it having issues updating drivers due to not waiting long enough before restarting even though it said update complete and causing the driver the not work properly.
Those are really the only issues I’ve had with it, mostly just works for me personally.
Linux@lemmy.ml•Either Linux's built-in display drivers are black magic or microslop is incompetentbyISolox@lemmy.world
2 monthsDoes windows let you control external monitor brightness at all? I don’t think ive ever seen the option for external displays on windows.
Games@lemmy.world•The $950 Steam Deck Apparently Isn't Too Expensive, As it Sold Out in Under 24 HoursbyISolox@lemmy.worldEnglish
3 monthsIf they have to sell it at this price I doubt they have many in stock to begin with.
After switching between distros for 8+ years and settling on Fedora KDE, I don’t think I’ve ever had SELinux get in my way for anything.
Oof I can’t recommend a new one to anyone at that price. Fortunately there’s still a lot of used ones around where I live, but that’s a big old yikes.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Dropped my Steam Deck. Is it fixable? UPDATE: Deck is fixedbyISolox@lemmy.world
4 monthsI did the same thing with my RB button on my LCD model. I went the official repair route, which cost $130. If you can solder you can probably just replace it yourself, I just didn’t feel confident enough to do it.

Guys even if you hate microslop, this is not a bad thing to have the option for those who do use it. If it gets more people over to Linux I only see that as a good thing.
