There are electric cars that are not Teslas…
This is America, you might as well ask men to cut their balls off …
The timing is unfortunate… I’d like to buy a used EV, and I’ve seen a few I like on carvana with very low miles for cheap… but I’ve been living in an apartment and would have no place to change it… Now I’m buying a house with (among many other things) a 240v outlet in the garage specifically for changing an EV… But it’s going to be a couple weeks, and those used EVs are dwindling…
Seriously? I get yelled at at least once every time I ride. People have thrown drinks at me, spit at me numerous times (though their aim is generally very poor)
I’ve even been run off the road a few times, intentionally (they admitted it after I caught up with them at the next light and confronted them)

Just go read up on networking and you’ll realize that wouldn’t make sense.
That right there is you being an asshole. If that’s who you are, that’s fine, but at least be honest about it. I know I’m an asshole, so you’re not hurting my feelings any by turning it back on me.
If you would like to not be an asshole, a good start would be to accept that you don’t know everything, and just because your experience differs from mine doesn’t mean I’m wrong. It’s fully possible what I observed between 30 and 15 years ago was unusual, or maybe it was common then but isn’t now- and if you had led with that, I might have conceded that you may at least have more current knowledge than I. It’s also possible I didn’t explain myself clearly enough, and we’re just misunderstanding each other- a layer 8 problem, if you will.
you think the modem is broadcasting your computer’s MAC address.
Well, considering I was seeing arp packets from mac addresses of every other machine on my segment pretty much continuously, what conclusion would you come to?

Be less of an asshole, it’s free. I’ve been sniffing packets from cable modems since the 90s. I even remember the mac address of my first network card - 00a0cc52cac7, because mediaone gave out persistent hostnames based on your mac address before they were bought by at&t. I once putty’d into my machine from Katmandu just because I could. Incidentally, when I called at&t support to find out if this would continue, their support rep had no idea what I was talking about, and after I mentioned mac addresses, he suggested I call apple.

Every broadband connection I’ve had looks at the mac address of whatever is behind the modem, the modem essentially passes it through.

Yes. Linux can (usually though not always) drive a wifi card as an access point.

I did this 20 years ago, I can do it again…

What employer? Uber drivers are independent contractors.
I thought I knew my wife after 20 years, but she surprised me. Apparently, being direct with me was terrible for her, just the most emotionally draining experience imaginable for her, and she got tired of it- but rather than tell me that, she just stopped being direct and expected me to pick up on it, and when I inevitably didn’t, she decided the relationship was over- but again, she didn’t tell me that, just started boinking our son’s best friend’s dad, then when I started to figure it out, told me I was crazy for thinking it, that he was just a friend… When she finally did tell me she wanted to divorce (one year ago today, matter of fact), she didn’t want either of us to move out, she expected me to be ok with continuing to live together sharing a house (and bed!) while she screwed her side piece… I moved out so quickly I didn’t even have furniture, just slept on an air mattress on the floor for the first couple weeks… Then after I had signed a year lease, I found out the other guy lived right around the corner from my apartment… Rather than randomly bump into each other at the grocery store, I decided to call him (son’s best friend’s dad, remember?) Turns out, she had been lying to him too, told him we had been separated “for some time”, just living together for the sake of the kids… He seemed genuinely horrified to hear that wasn’t true, apologized for his part, and said he was going to break it off with her. I didn’t really believe him at the time, but as things have played out since, while she was trying to make me think they were still seeing each other, I could tell they weren’t - my son lamenting not seeing his friend much anymore for one. Some months later after I had dropped off the kids with her, she let it slip that “he’s always busy now”. Gee, I wonder why…
Anywho, you think you know someone…
That was my wife for the last 20 years… The divorce is almost final (almost as in we’ve both signed off, it’s been sent to the court (Friday afternoon) we’re just waiting to hear back…). Yeah, she cheated on me. Yeah, it was a surprise. Yeah, she blamed me for not paying enough attention to her.

I live in Phoenix. When I first moved here, I lived in a shitty apartment that didn’t maintain my air conditioning, and the condenser drain clogged and started leaking, so I had to put out buckets to catch the water. I could easily squeeze a gallon out of the air in a few hours, and that was just a 750 sqft apartment…

“relative humidity” is the percentage of water the air holds relative to how much it could hold, which varies by temperature. It can’t go negative, though it can go over 100%.

But but but capitalism, free market, competition, etc. etc. etc …
Meanwhile, the dirty looks I get when I’m on a bike ride and I startle nearly every woman I pass because she couldn’t hear me say “on your left”
I always noticed that too…
