5·9 days agoHipshipper, an international shipping platform used by eBay, Shopify and Amazon sellers, has exposed millions of shipping labels, revealing personal customer data.
Researchers believe that the data stored on the exposed bucket included buyers’ personal details, such as:
- Full names
- Home addresses
- Phone numbers
- Order details (dates of mailing, parcel information, etc.)
They knew. Honestly, there’s probably a higher than average amount of anal on that day, so it makes perfect sense.
5·10 days agoI’ve found it to have extremely limited value, but not zero. It’s been useful as a shortcut for things I can already do myself. For instance, I can easily get syntax for a param block, or build a window form. Could I do it myself? Absolutely, and pretty easily. And I can recognize when it’s right vs wrong. But it’s marginally faster to have copilot do it instead of digging up the documentation.
It’s more like a party trick than a trillion dollar revolution. The $20/month for a full time dev is probably around the break even point for the labor savings. It’s not going to save THAT much time.
It seems that some people don’t get the joke. At least, I assume it’s a joke.

Unfortunately, that seems to be about local communities, which aren’t really important. In fact, due to federation, that’s the least important aspect of an instance.
By default, Lemmy is wide open to anything and everything. You need to see what they have turned off/blocked/removed, to see if it’s what you want.
Many (most?) instances do block porn. Aside from liability concerns, porn tends to be high bandwidth, meaning high costs to operate. As such, there are a handful of VERY NSFW instances that aren’t well-federated.
Of course, it depends on how you define porn. I see a ton of suggestive (but not outright pornographic) anime when I browse All/New, but very little of actual naked humans.

It makes more sense if you start from the other side - EVs are a niche market, and an electric truck is a small subset of that.

1·1 month agoThere’s only a single decent quality video of the first plane on 9/11. Because in a city of millions of people, only 1 person in the area was recording at the time.
I can’t even imagine how many videos there would be if it happened today.
The delay on USB was to let the industry standardize on its own. The EU hinted to all manufacturers that they needed to standardize. Then it outright stated. Then because Apple was run by pricks, the EU had to legislate USB-C to force it.
Now, when something better comes along (like when mini USB gave way to micro USB, then to USB-C), there will need to be new legislation to allow that connector.
The batteries don’t live in isolation. There are other pieces that are dependent, whether for basic function or for calibration.
Example: Chevy issued a recall for mislabeling some Bolts as N2.1 vs N2.2. The fix is a sharpie to fix the label, and “reprogramming the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2”. I could find no information on either of these chemistries. Dropping in a LiFePO4 would require at least the same, and possibly more.
Now, if you’re suggesting simply swapping a matching replacement part (obsolete as it might be), then I’m on board with that
