Just chiming in, this is not recommended for proxmox
The documentation (FAQ 13) actually directly says that docker should be installed as a QEMU VM on proxmox and that it should not be installed on the Proxmox VE Host
Just your normal everyday casual software dev. Nothing to see here.

the amount of software I’ve used that lacks this type of system is aggravating. How hard is it to keep an object of property names, and if the name isn’t in it then it errors.
this can be continued into command line as well. if flag -z doesn’t exist, you shouldn’t allow me to run a command with it. It’s clear I am trying to do something (incorrectly) thinking -z is something it isn’t, just error it and tell me that.
Because it’s universal, it works, it’s multi-platform, device agnostic and it’s simple to use user side.
Nothing else available really fits that criteria.
The closest in todays age is probally discord or teams, but neither of which are decentralized. XMPP could work for it, but nobody really uses it anymore and to be honest the standard is ugly as hell to implement.
Browser Notifications are ineffective and have a high probability of failing or not being seen, they are more meant for real-time notices not historical notices not to mention locked to that browser.
App notifications would be amazing for things with apps, but not everyone wants to be forced into using their mobile device for everything, and it would again only be available from said app(unless you do use something like NTFY), which would generally be locked down to a device
Email sucks admin side, but there’s a reason its used.
This is also ignoring the multi-use case that email allows for such as authentication as well, so if its already being stored for accounts, might as well use it for notifications
hard agree, I hate browser notifications with a hard passion, I would never see them if they swapped to that.
huh, I learned a few new words today
for others who want to know

I’m curious of how long it is going to be before the courts just rule a blanket “PA’s can not access any federal data without congressional approval as they are not the president”
It seems super inefficient to have to file a separate suit for /every/ instance of info they give.
my only complaint about it is the lack of clear “hey this is going to be a major update” on the webUI. I did the update command and was met with a different UI. Which wasn’t difficult to figure out, and I have to blame myself for not actually checking the patch notes first, but I wasn’t expecting a major update from the webUI as it only said “new version available run this command to upgrade”
the upgrade as a whole is all and all a great improvement
the article states that when a company is sold, they need to renegotiate a new contract. So it looks like it does automatically terminate on sale, and it would be up to them to make a new contract.
I assume the person meant that they could make a new contract with the new names if they wanted to.
It seems he wasn’t banned from Fortnite, just from participating in tournaments. So he may very well cheat in fortnite again, as his account wasn’t banned.
Being said, nice of them to donate the winnings to charity, half expected them to just keep the money.
Yeah it seems I misunderstood what those tablets were,
I did find the old Samsung Tab tablets that would do pretty decent job though, those are somewhat around the same price range too, like 70-140ish range preowned
And looking into the kobo clara series it does look like those are about 120-130 second hand currently so not as bad
unfortunately though, due to the same issues there isn’t a very large second hand market of those either. Like the cheapest remarkable second hand I could find was still 300$ and the cheapest pine note was 270$ for preowns.
when you compare it to the kindle which has preowns starting at 40$ it’s a hard buy
yea, but I feel like it’s worth saying that steamdeck (where most of the steamos instances are) runs primarily in steam mode, and runs immutable OS by default so it’s pretty hard to actually mess that up. Plus steam manages most updates for you instead of you managing the updating yourself, which also helps remove the skill factor.
NGL; it put a sour taste in my mouth when I got to the butcher knife part, I refused to use it lol
fully agree, if that was their main reason i would understand, its just the blatant disregard for the actual meaning of the show. As someone who was a pretty big fan up to black/white, their reasoning’s for not being able to watch it seems absurd. Like sure you catch Pokemon and force them to fight, 100% valid. It’s just judging the entire thing based off the personality style of both TR and Misty seemed ridiculous IMO. Like sure Misty and Jessie weren’t amazing on the personality side for the first season or two, but like they did get better, and it was clear that the rudeness wasn’t meant to be what the focal point was.
that could be true, if I didn’t double check the sources. If that is how you would be doing it then sure, but I use it as a guideline not a rule, and check for facts after.
There’s nothing wrong with using something as a blueprint/template. Seeing a strong lean in credibility or positioning tells me that I should be more serious on fact checking on it as there will be bias.
I’ve recently setup an recipe archival project using tandoor, I’m working on converting all my grandparents fading old as dust cooking recipes from their misc handwritten cursive notecards to digital.
Setup was uneventful but it took a little research to figure out how to use a remote postgres server, turns out the app doesn’t give an error when it can’t connect to the server, it just fails to run
Have to say the actual program itself is absolutely absurd and how they choose their permissions, it breaks all conventional and took quite a bit to get used to.
omg this didn’t effect me but I had family members who couldn’t even watch pokemon due to the concept that you are enslaving animals and that Jessie in team rocket and misty were too rude.
I understand raising your kids but damn talk about being sheltered by your parents.
you likely won’t find an unbiased opinion regarding that here. Members tend not do their own research and only live to complain about the existence of it.
I share the same opinion as yours, I would rather have a sometimes inaccurate listing than no listing at all. The complaints people have about it are what I enjoy using it for, it lets me know to look for certain things on the article before I enter so I know if I should take it with a grain of salt or not.
I’ve used Voyager before and while it comes close, unless they changed how the app operates, I don’t think that app fits the description that I’m asking for.
The entire issue with Lemmy is the Federation aspect of it, while it’s a good thing to have it’s way too confusing for the everyday person. For example I use eternity, the only layout that remotely looks decent in my opinion. It worked similar to Voyager where when you open it for the first time it brought you to an instance and then when you went to make an account it asked you which instance you wanted to make the account on. That right there is going to turn away a good 30 to 40% of the people looking. I know it almost turned me away.
For the point of responding to this comment I reinstalled Voyager, I’m going to portray my experience from someone who doesn’t have experience with the fediverse. If you don’t wish to see the narration, you can skip the rest
Okay cool I see a bunch of posts, I expect this lem.ee thing is the program oh fun they have Politics on the front page I thought I was trying to avoid that but okay there are some memes here that are pretty cool, let me try to like one,
oh I need an account yeah that makes sense, neat they have a learn more button(most people likely won’t click this btw) okay an entire page explaining that the programs like an email client, how is up voting content like receiving emails 😕(personally think they should have used subscribe/follow for that imo)
Okay cool I think I get it let me just use the default instance, let me just skip past all of this pointless TOS stuff, “please write I accept acknowledging that you’ve read the rules in the sidebar on the front page.” uhh Sidebar? Well I don’t know how to get to that so let me try the next instance, lemmy.world sounds good. and that one is a 1 2 3 process(if email verification works)
From here they have a functioning account but the app has failed to tell them the core aspects of what federation is, they’ve failed to explain what defederation is, they failed to explain what the repercussions of choosing an instance does, it’s only explained that Lemmy is like email, and to the everyday user, email is identical across all providers, users very rarely if at all have an email provider actively block an email server because they don’t agree with what’s going on there. For example in the case of LW by choosing that platform you’re actively removing yourself from anything that’s against their mentalities such as the piracy community, you’re also subjecting yourself to a somewhat heavy moderation style instance and also subjecting yourself to hatred in the community without actually realizing you’re doing so. You won’t know this tell you get told by a user (and you WILL get told by a user).
This could be avoided by having a integration with fediseer or being able to integrate with the instances Blacklist so you can see what is blocked. Or even just a link to their rules would be amazing.
That’s my main annoyance in current mobile apps, they are only decent for established fediversers. Most people would have left second or third message into my experience and just gone back to other platforms
I want to say I agree that Apple was put in a Lose Lose here. Building a backdoor would be detrimental, but removing the obstacle does no better. Now other countries can say “well shoot if we just force them to put a backdoor in they’ll just remove the issue entirely”. The main issue that the EU had with e2e is that they lacked the capability of accessing the data, Apple removing e2e in the EU moreorless said “yea sure whatever you can access the data, we just don’t want you to access the rest of the worlds data”
But whats the next step for when the next country (say the US) also decides they want a piece of that action. “Oh let me remove e2e in the US as a whole as well”.
This was an L across the entire board privacy and reputation wise. Apple has set the precedent that they will cave and cater to big brother corporations if it means they can stay in operation in that country. It completely destroyed all the trust that they got from the previous fight vs the US government as a result.
I don’t really know what they could have done differently then fight it though.
