It’s absolutely another Sony attempt at a live service game

This should have been an actual marathon sequel. Not some live service trash that’s gonna be forgotten about in a year or 2 at absolute best

My old WMR controller had that too, but it only tracked for a few seconds before losing the controller location again because it eats battery. And that’s with 2 AA’s. Unless this one is newer and super efficient, on one battery, I imagine it’ll run into a similar problem to not have them die in only a couple of hours

Bit disappointed to see only 4 tracking cameras. Willing to bet tracking is gonna be horrid when at waist level still. That’s an issue that has been plaguing VR headsets with inside out tracking since the beginning, and it’s frustrating it looks like they still didn’t bother fixing it on a headset that almost certainly isn’t gonna be cheap to start with

Oh my god I’ve been waiting for this one for years. I thought it was dead at this point since I never saw another trailer since the reveal trailer years ago

No idea if they’re still around but that was the basis behind Swagbucks and AppTrailers back in the day. Bought a shitty $25 android phone that I just babysat at my desk running those all day long just hitting the next button when it showed up every couple of hours. Wasn’t a massive payout by any means nor fast, but I racked up multiple $25 payouts that way. Still free money for minimal work. As a broke college student sitting at his desk most of the day anyways, that was solid
Drawing lines is too hard. Better to just drain a 3rd world nation’s water supply to do it instead. You understand
This is the shittiest haiku I ever read. Take this one to the thermal paste factory

I mean, I played most of my library in that space. I ‘S’ ranked plenty of Beat Saber maps on Hard. Played Space Pirate Trainer a few times. The Lab. Phasmophobia. Etc. You can genuinely easily play most VR games seated if you really wanted to, even if it’s not as nice as having standing room

Eh, I literally played Alyx on a gaming laptop with a 1060 in front of my dining room table in no more than a 3x3 cube with a $300 headset. That is not a very high barrier to entry for existing pc gamers at least. A Steam Deck exclusive may fare a little better since it’s a self contained console, but I doubt it would do that much better if VR was enough to discourage people tbh

Very doubtful tbh. You can look at HL: Alyx as an example. It sold well I’m sure, but not Nintendo level. As much as people like to belly ache about VR being too hard to get into, it’s truly no more expensive than a Steam Deck if you actually bother to take more than 2 seconds to legitimately look into it.
I played Alyx on a mobile 1060 and a $300 headset and while it wasn’t top of the line, it was still perfectly playable. I imagine most gamers these days have at least that, but Alyx absolutely did not sell like hot cakes. And I doubt the Steam Deck would either, even for HL3.

I used it. And I used Edge. This is the most braindead change they could have made. Edge automatically synced passwords to Authenticator across mobile and PC. Losing the ability to autofill passwords outside of Edge makes it significantly less useful.
If anything, as someone who was in their garden, this change is unironically making me want to go find another garden to play in instead of stick closer to theirs. Why is Microsoft so hellebent on making people hate it’s software recently?
Rumors I’ve seen are they are going all in on the physics. Like, every object in the game has material properties like flammability that will react differently in the environment. Some rumors about some procedural generation tech being involved as well, but not to what extent it’s being used

I’ve been hanging on the new release emails waiting for months without a peep. I’ll honestly be shocked if I see it eventually at this point

If not it will soon. Maybe even 2 copies at the same time

Hope whenever tf HL3 eventually comes out (hopeful I know) they cns emulate his style well at least. That super sleek industrial look is a bit part of the style of both Dishonored and HL that I love

Microsoft not shooting themselves in the foot every chance they get challenge (impossible)

Honestly to a certain extent I think being decentralized is somewhat beneficial. Perhaps it’s just the fact I’ve been visiting forums for like 20 years and feeling jaded, but I never liked that any knuckle dragger could easily make an account and act like an ass.
It’s not a very high bar to clear to figure out how to sign up for lemmy, so if you can’t even figure that out, maybe it’s for the best to help prevent polluting the user pool. If you’re gonna be an ass, you should at least have to work for it.
I’ve been expecting it the last couple of games showcases where there were rumors too. I will say the new hardware launch makes the rumors more compelling, but I will literally not believe it until I see it. I’m fully expecting the event to end on a dumb note and to say “that’s it!?” like the last couple of times I got my hopes up
