Indeed. Looking forward to the new Valve headset, which is just a normal Arm pc with a linux distro, including a desktop mode. Given that they push for upstreaming, i have quite the hopes to just be able to install any linux arm distro in the future.

True about those without video outputs. But in Linux, game specific patches are in Mesa and not in the graphics drivers for example.
Unless you were a hard GNU fan when you were a kid, it was the same process of giving power to billionares. Just that now it sits on 50 years of wins for the billionares side. So it’s closer to the endgame.
The TPM included DRM as its objective 20 years ago. They backtracked at that moment because of serious backslash. Now, it’s present and a dependency. Then, it will be needed for banking. Afterwards, for social media and social credit like in China.

Oh, they are working on that too. Win 11 depends on TPM modules, and it’s not by mistake. Once they have the full software and hardware pipeline, they can control the media we see (for profit, but also for authoritarism because the jump is so small).
Tv oems are the ones that set up the hdmi club. They want the content encrypted with drm, from transit, to your pc, to your cable, to your screen. Look up the analog hole. This battle has been going on for 20 years. Share this with interested people.
Another option is to connect a Steam Controller (via its dongle, not via bluetooth). Pressing the controller steam button wakes it up always.
Just add the vpn config through the UI, no need for all of that.
They get paid to spread FUD, lots of actors would prefer the current approach with Windows to continue, pcgamer included (just disable ublock and watch the advertisements they run, you will get an idea on why they don’t want a successful prebuilt).
Thank god one can see how it will work right now, just try to game in any desktop Linux, it works wonders.
Valve isn’t perfect. They’re still a corporation. But if every company was as evil as Valve, we would achieve near world peace. They’ve contributed amazing things to open source through heavy investment.
It’s a privately own company, and it shows. Linux and open source just wins, because it allows to set these symbiosis with partners instead of treating everything as competition, my way-or-the-highway-style.
OK, now think how nontechnical people will not be able to do it. They will be tied to Google/X-corp for all credentials, even government ones. Waiting to be banned if their social credit is too low.
