  • He does go a little over the top sometimes so his videos could be considered to be a bit overdramatic with a little sprinkle of rage bait.

However, I have rarely have disagreed with his views on consumer protection. Actually… I have never disagreed with his views on consumer protection.

Him getting viewers pissed off is not what I would consider healthy, but the rage might get some people to stop showing their bellies to large companies. Regardless, his videos do walk a fine line for me personally. He should be getting income from his videos, which is fine. If he ever cracks and starts getting people pissed off expressly for the purpose of income, I’ll drop his videos really quick.

  • Make note of the instances you are on. Communities with the same names can be radically different across instances.

Each instance may have their own collective view on what is right or wrong, good or bad. For example, I saw that you mentioned the “T” word (or was in a discussion about it) on .ml the other day and that is a recipe for an interesting discussion. You do what the heck you want, but each community will have their own special reaction.

I stumbled into lemmygrad a couple of years ago, somehow. It didn’t take but about 5 mins for me to be labeled a fascist baby killer.

I suspect many people aren’t talking about this because many Lemmy users don’t use the platform.

Just use an alternative service instead of trying to find more ways to use Musks personal propaganda platform. Honesly, It makes more sense to open up apps like this again, quietly, since it was was a serious strategic flaw to block it in the first place.

I don’t disagree with the concept of this front end, but there are just better options out there.

  • Sorry to interrupt, but CEOs may have data retention laws to follow, depending on the industry. It’s easier for many companies just to save everything, usually. Do they exploit that data? Yeah, unfortunately. CEOs can be blamed for a lot, but not for rules they may have to follow. You can blame them for shitty security over that data they have to retain. That’s a thing! (AI companies are the ones you need to look at now as they are the ones that want everything.)

To tweak your point a little, you have no voting power over people who are put in charge of government regulatory bodies who create those data retention rules, for example. (Policy and guidelines are distinct things.)

On second thought, you can vote for the people who control policy or support increased restrictions on police and other feds. You don’t have to vote for people who cheer for the abuse of power. You can look at life any way you choose, I suppose.

Your points are not generally wrong and your individual vote rarely changes your country or the world. Addressing complaints of an individual isn’t really what voting is for. However, you can vote in different elections for people who have specific areas of control based on your opinion. That is why I got nuanced with my first bit about data, actually.

The people telling you to vote “harder” are simply telling you to actually vote. That is the point.
