2 days agoMy understanding of NATO’s articles is that article 4 guarantees protection against threats to a member nation’s sovereignty, and article 5 guarantees military protection in the event of invasion. So it’s a direct violation of article 4 from one founding member to another which is… Bad for the whole alliance lol.
I agree it’s an insane thing for him to be talking about out of nowhere, but an overtly imperial USA (as opposed to its traditional denial of being an empire) against a close ally is something worth talking about.
