Just like how most cakes don’t use a pound of butter so we have to specify between “cake” and “pound cake.”

Yeah, that’s why. Pound of flour, sugar, eggs, butter, and then some rose water and spices to taste

Hah and then you add the other ingredients based on what ‘looks right,’ and voila, it ends up being a pound of everything anyway 😅
I could be wrong, but I think the only cake that is guaranteed upside-up is one that you serve still in the pan you baked it in. That is more a choice of manner in which to serve the cake than a function of the sponge itself.
Upside down cake is constructed before baking in a way that is intended to be inverted from the baking orientation to serve.
