In the Northern Hemisphere, [days with equal day and night hours] happen a few days before the spring equinox (vernal equinox) and a few days after the autumn equinox. South of the equator, it’s the other way around.
Well what a fun bit of trivia. This makes sense, because the earth orbiting and rotation would mean the axis being perpendicular to the sun would not necessarily be the same time as the equal time days
The equilux is actually caused by 2 things (according to my reading):
- The sun is not a point light source, it’s a disk and even after the equinox (in autumn) or before (in spring) a portion of the visible disk is above the horizon for a few minutes.
- There is atmospheric refraction that further extends daylight hours.
SCIENCE BITCH!!
He ended up deciding that we should all become moon worshipers.
At least the moon is real.
I thought it was caused by all the ware wolves swimming to the mainland to feed?
And for a meal you’ll never forget, visit the Ultra-Luxe New Vegas Resort.
There’s a restaurant called the Grand Lux at the Venetian. Their meals are pretty forgetable though.
Fascinating!
