3D printing with my first spool of Elegoo Rapid PETG ( https://au.elegoo.com/products/rapid-petg-filament-1-75mm-colored-1kg ) bought at Jaycar , looking very clean and sharp on a slow speed profile
I should recalibrate my Overture PETG ( https://overture3d.com/products/overture-petg ) now that I’ve figured out the speed issues on my printer
It works pretty well for me. It prints fast, it’s strong and has good layer adhesion. It does take quite a while to dry a new roll though. The cardboard spool holds a lot of water.
It was under 50% relative humidity in my garage today, so I just put the spool right on the printer and hit “go” :)
Over 50% and I usually run active filament from a dry box to the printer
I haven’t gone to the trouble of pre-drying a spool yet
It’s too humid around here for that, especially this time of year. I have to keep mine in a sealed box with desiccant. Putting a new spool in the box without drying it just uses up the desiccant quickly.
At least PETG doesn’t get brittle like PLA when it’s wet. It just gets stringy.
