Today’s game is some more Project Zomboid. We decided to venture out of the safety of our milk store so one of my friend’s who is larping a fireman stripper could get some more Firemen gear. We took a roadtrip to Rosewood too the firestation there. What ended up happening was it got late (in game and irl), so we decided to hunker down in the Firestation and turn it into a safehouse.

While on boarding up the windows i got a little resistance from the local population, I got snuck up on namely. I managed to get everything nicely boarded up though, along with some spares if i ever need them.

The trip there wasn’t uneventful either though. We stopped for gas. I was in charge of getting the gas, While Cable (My character’s adopted 20 year old son) ran inside for snack. Meanwhile our fireman looked around for anything useful. He found a fire truck nearby and tried to open it, but it set off an alarm and alerted all the zombies. We needed the food so we had to fight them off and then keep the path clear to the car.

One of my friend’s also disconnected and died in the brief inbetween. I teleported him back because that was a BS death, but we had to stop and fight another microherd on the way there. The car started dying, and while i kept stuff to fix it in the trunk, I needed my friend’s to cover me while i installed it. The result was a mess. You can only see part the mess due to the fog, unfortunately, it was a massacre though. I’m lucky i stocked up on shotguns and shotgun shells.
After all that though we made it to town. Surprisingly town had little to no issues. I parked the car, we went inside, cleaned house. Then i brought the vehicles into the garage and started doing the aforementioned barricade. It makes for a cozy little safe house. Should anything happen to the milkstore, this might be where we fall back.
- I rarely interact with these posts, but I read them every time. Keep them coming, this is top shelf content. Thank you! ~ - 100% agree with the above!
- 101% agree with the above

- Have you seen the game VEIN that just came out? I haven’t played Zomboid in years but the few reviews of VEIN that I’ve seen all describe it as “Zomboid but first person.” - (I only mention this because I’ve seen you post about Zomboid several times so thought you might enjoy something allegedly similar. I’m not affiliated in any way.) - Someone actually suggested it the other day to me on one of these posts and it looked interesting. I was having network issues at the time but it looked good and i saved it for later - Awesome - hope you like it when you get to it!

- Ooo it’s finally on steam early access!

- Idk if you’ve played Rimworld or Factorio but they scratch the same long-term-planning itch that Zomboid does. - What about Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead?
- Rimworld has been on my list for a bit. Same with Factorio, but i have Satisfactory which afaik is a similar vibe. I’ve been meaning to pick them both up though, i just keep putting it off - Factorio feels way different even if it scratches the same itch. More structured with the grid system and lends itself to clean blueprint layouts for efficiency… Always more efficient… Always…

- Ah, the Rosewood Fire Department, my old friend. Tear down the stairs, throw some sheet ropes out the window, build a door to the roof to set up a farm and some water barrels above the sinks and you’ve got yourself a little slice of heaven. - I hadn’t thought of tearing down the stairs, it’s a good idea. We had gotten a sledge hammer we found on the side of the road on the way there so maybe we’ll give it a try - It’s always my first move once I find the sledge if I’m starting in Rosewood, it gives so much freedom. Once you build a door to the roof you can build a covered lounge and dirt plots, that way you can read outside while you watch tv next to your crops to level skills and avoid boredom all while not even having to consider zeds. You can also toss the generator on the roof outside to cover the whole building. Build a floor before you step onto the roof, though, or you’ll fall through, everything along the wall needs a floor built on it even though there are roof textures there. I love that spot.

- Everyone gangsta until Indie Stone releases the update where zeds learn how to climb ropes - That would be pretty awesome, I think. You’d have to pull up your rope ladder every time and remember to drop it down when you leave. I’d probably die more to auto-defenestration because I forgot to drop the sheet rope than zeds.

- Is “Fireman Stripper” a sustainable job in Zombie apocalypse? Just curious… - Oooh, Cable is back! According to the lore, do the characters just move from one world to another or is that some other guy with some other adopted son Cable? - We haven’t really made a lore explanation for it. They are the same character we know, but as far as continuity, we make references though to previous “lore events” though and treat it like it’s just another day of the zombie apocalypse. I guess if i had to try and explain it, some unexplained event happened that caused Jerry and Cable to have to start over? - Jerry and Cable in Baldurs Gate was a Dimension hop though - Like Saturday morning cartoons, each day is unique! - We can treat the dimension hop as Christmas special crossover episode 😀 - Me and my friend have done a Christmas special each year for the last 2 years (We give ourselves the goal of getting a Christmas tree and cooking Christmas dinner). So the Christmas special idea does work

- Too bad Starts leaning more into drm recently according to TOS wherein even in GOG they say u dont own the Game but rather a license to play
- Welp. That character is banned from /r/NeverBrokeABone. 🤷♂️
- Bomboid
- You make this game seem really appealing! Is it much better in a group, do you think? - For sure, at least imo. I have met a few people who prefer singleplayer. Multiplayer and Singleplayer honestly though feel like two completely different vibes - I could imagine. Thank you!

- It’s a great game that gets even better when you play co-op in a group. I’ve also heard of some amazing scenarios in PVP public servers. - I think I’m sold, thank you! - Awesome, you’re welcome, and I hope you enjoy it! People who mesh with it tend to get pretty deep into it and put in hundreds or even thousands of hours of play. I’m not a dedicated gamer, but I have more time in this game than any other. It may be worth watching some trailers and tutorials for it too.

- Yes it’s better in a group. Or at the very least just playing on a multiplayer server is better imo than single player. (At least until npcs are in)
