Ah no, I’m really not into WAM - I’ve done it once or twice but it both does not play well with the ol’ autism and it’s just so miserable to clean up afterwards. All that laundry…

      WAM?

Is that… ok, I had to look that one up, didn’t realize there’s an acronym for that.

      But, couple of things:

I’m also autistic, and I’m pretty sure my partner for that was as well. But also I guess different textured strokes for different folks.

Also, we didn’t have to do any laundry. That’s why we got an extra shower curtain, managed to contain it all on top of that.

We stripped down fully and put our stuff in a bag prior to uh, festivity commencement, to just double make sure it wouldn’t get messy.

And we had also figured it would get all in our hair and thus pre-planned the shower schedule so we’d up to an hour long shower, if need be.

But but but, you answered my question, so thank you; I’m not trying to change your mind, just doing the autism thing and overexplaining.

Lol no worries I picked up on the subtle signs of sympathetic autistic vibes (or uh… something like that).

Yeahhh, it’s just a textural thing with me. Can’t stand the sensation :(

One of these days I really should do a gonemild post showcasing my collection of vintage velvet cocktail dresses…

I think I can practically guarantee that if you can cosplay as a lounge singer, you’ll have quite a lot of fans on lemmy, haha!

Basically, just go with anything black and rubber, with two circular eyepieces.

You can often luck out and find one of those at a local milsurp store.

I’m fairly confident there are a plethora of examples from like Rammstein or Kaisers Orchestra music videos, or even SlipKnot.

Ah. But I forget who I am talking to:

You already own a gas mask.

I’m sure the one you have would do fine, lol.

(though maybe balance out its large monocular face piece with exaggerated or substantial shoulder padding on the dress?)

But if you insist on another one, Id recommend something like the old Soviet GP-5:

                  Giant Ebay URL

Apparently these are not reproductions and are actually real surplus… don’t try using them as an actual CBRN gasmask without restoring and testing it, but as far as fashion goes?

Very fashionable, imo, this basic design seems to be a staple of uh… europunk/euroalt? I’m not really sure what the genre or scene names would be, but I’ve seen this kind of design in many ‘sexy lady with gas mask’ style videos, lol.

I’m guessing its because the kind of ‘noodle nose’ thing is evocative of the stereotypical ‘Plauge Doctor’ mask.

You can always just layer over the eyepieces with translucent plastic or even just carefully layered and fixed, colored saran wrap, lol.

And there are many other slightly different but generally design-element-similar masks.

Ahahaha thank you, I actually own several GP-5s, along with quite a few M65s, a bunch of half-face 3M respirators and a miscellaneous assortment of other masks. The silver-lensed one that’s my favorite is actually an MSA SCBA mask, not a proper gas mask (Fire-fighting surplus, damn things are like $600 new). I do love the classic look of the GP5s but they stretch out so fast and aren’t otherwise adjustable (and theres the whole fucking GOST vs. NATO 40MM thread thing that makes accessories a huge pain in the ass to fit), it’s a real shame.

I was really just hoping you knew of a like… idk, formal-dress gas mask? I’ve been wanting to pick up one of the chinese clones of the Israeli Model 4 masks that have been coming out, just haven’t pulled the trigger on one yet. IDK if you have recommendations I’m genuinely interested, I have a -huge- heavy rubber collection (which I uh… seem to have never posted any of my latex? I should really fix that…)

(Incidental, but they make colored self-adhesive window tint for putting on your car! That’s the best thing I’ve found for lenses - it’s what I’m using on the one in most of my photos, and it comes in all kinds of colors)
