The Chinese state is souring against Israel, likely the operators of the app were also against Israel considering how they allowed anti-zionist content on the platform.

oh look, censorship, an authoritarian classic. not sure if you’re like that because stalinist, islamist or both, though.
- 3 months
Maybe you should learn the meaning of words before you start using them. Somebody responding to what you say isn’t censorship. Not even close.
Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.
- VeloRama@feddit.orgEnglish3 months
What mrdown wrote, especially in this context, is a thinly veiled threat of murder. That is censorship, not a “consequence”.

Israel love islamist and authoritarian countries like saudi arabia and stalinist like Putin.
Putin is a true friend of Israel - Ariel Sharon in 2001
Israel is, in fact, a special state to us. It is practically a Russian-speaking country. Israel is one of the few foreign countries that can be called Russian-speaking. It’s apparent that more than half of the population speaks - Putin in 2010
In August, Russia began increasing fruit imports from Israel, after banning food imports from the EU, Norway, United States, Canada and Australia
In Ocobre 2015 , Israel and Russia held meetings to coordinate over Syria, and avoid accidentally clashing or scrambling each other’s communications while operating over the country.
In March 2016, Putin said the relations with Israel were special and based “on friendship, mutual understanding and the long common history Russia and Israel have developed a special relationship. 1.5 million Israeli citizens come from the former Soviet Union, they speak the Russian language, are the bearers of Russian culture, Russian mentality. They maintain relations with their relatives and friends in Russia, and this make the interstate relations very special”
You really love israel an extremist jewish state that don’t represent jews and even killed jews before
demonsword@lemmy.worldEnglish
3 monthsThere isn’t a iota of marxism in Russia’s Putin. It may be authoritarian, but Russia ain’t stalinist, unless you’re using the term as some slang for authoritarian.
- VeloRama@feddit.orgEnglish3 months
the russian administration had a huge influence in syria when assad was still in power. with russian military at it’s doorstep and allowing israel to strike hezbollah without repercussions, there was of course an incentive to be on good terms with russia.
israel is a working democracy that acts as a safe space for jews. before the genocide committed by hamas on 7th oct 2023, there were widespread protests against the right-wing government. it is not an “extremist jewish” state. as in similar cases (9/11 attack on twin towers), civil society closed ranks after the attacks, which severely weakened the protests.
- mrdown@lemmy.worldEnglish3 months
Name a single genocide expert or reputable saying there was a genocide during 7 of october, i can name many saying there is a genocide in Gaza. It is logically imposible for a genocide to happen during 7 of ocober since hamas stated goal was attacking some military target and get some israeli hostages to liberate some palestinian hostages.
Also israel has been comiting all the crimes hamas did during 7 of october decades before hamas even existed
Russia good relation with israel goes beyong the war in syria too and democratic country can still commit crimes and genocide so it is completely irelevant for israel to be a democracy. When the police attack anti netenyahu protest it doesn’t look like a functioning democracy to me
- VeloRama@feddit.orgEnglish3 months
you do not sound like having a lot of knowledge about hamas and its islamist allies stated goals. about two thirds of victims in the attack on 7th october were civilians. striking military targets was evidently not the intent.
crimes do not “cancel each other out” as you suggest. they feed on each other in a spiral of violence.
contrary to your believe that israel is an “extremist state” i presented you evidence that it has a healthy democratic counter culture.
show me a parliamentarian democracy where leftist demonstrations are not targeted by police brutality and i show you a state that does not exist.
- 3 months
They already did.
A few years ago, Osama Bin Laden’s open letter to the American people was being shared and people had their posts deleted.
It was being shared because the first reason he lists for attacking on 9/11 was America’s support for Israel.

Isn’t that the case with all major social media platforms?
- Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.worldEnglish3 months

- Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.worldEnglish3 months
That’s why quantity is important online. They can’t suppress it all.
It just surprises me that people put more effort trying to get AI to quote Hitler than they do trying to fight for something like this.
Why is there this asymmetry of effort between the political factions.
NutWrench@lemmy.worldEnglish
3 monthsThis is also why governments are pushing so hard for “AI.” AI won’t be used to improve the quality of our lives. It will be used for advertising, propaganda, surveillance and control. Only AI is fast enough to run all the bots and generate the blizzard of BS fast enough to counter the opinions of millions of people online.
- Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.worldEnglish3 months
What about in the opposite direction. Isn’t AI a tool that can be used to create, analyze and research. Which is why I think it’s pushed very hard for the left to alienate themselves from it. It gives anyone who embraced it a big advantage.

- 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.comEnglish3 months
I get what you mean, but the fediverse will likely never overcome state powers and reach. They have so much money, talent, and infrastructure to push propaganda.
The reality is people will have to use US tech and socials to expose Chinese/Russian/North Korean/Iranian atrocities and vice versa Unfortunately that’s currently the only way to gain any real ground.
You can already see how western allied social media and mainstream news tried to hide Israel’s genocide under the rug. And you’ll see how Chinese tech companies try to hide their Uyghur genocide and such.
They’re only amplified because they’re pushed by companies of geopolitical rivals.
