    A screenshot of Twitter, a site owned by a fascist and populated by fascists, of a tweet by a user called, ahem, “ImperiumFirst”, posting in greentext format (which admittedly doesn’t have to mean much by itself), with OP’s own title being “Every time”… Why does this post feel like it’s copy-pasted from /pol/? 🤔

      That’s weird that a post with 172k likes and 4.4 million views is seen by two people. The pol post is about 100k likes before I took the screenshot and I’ve never seen it.

      Do you think there’s something about the post itself which makes the title “every time” an easy title to come up with? Surely not. Everything must be /pol.

        No, but I can see why people would be jumpy when you repost a fascist pointing out the jewishness of someone (using Israel as a synonym) and then as the title (accidentaly) use a phrase that became a meme commonly associated with pointing out the jewish heritage of a powerful figure. Fedditors going straight for the accusations is of course you know… but it would have made me 🤨 as well if I hadn’t seen your posts before and noticed the X users handle.

          Nothing in the post points to the person pointing out the “jewishness”. The only thing pointed out in it is the birth place of the person

          The phrase also isn’t associated with pointing out Jewish figures. It can be associated with discrimination. In this case the title is actually discriminating. Against Israelis for always pushing spyware. Which has nothing to do with “antisemitism”.

          The only way the “antisemitism” angle works is by going “Israel = Jews = antisemitism”.

          It really all feels like Feddit.org users going “whoaaa did you consider the Israelis are jewish?! Therefore you can’t criticize them!” To which I recommend reading https://ofpatmos.substack.com/p/fight-jewish-exceptionalism

        On a site whose algorithm likely pushes fascist content it’s nothing surprising that two people would come across a popular fascist post.

        I’m not saying you’ve seen the thread on /pol/ (I found it by searching for the dogwhistle “every single time”), but it’s, uh, strange that your post could be replaced with the one from /pol/ and vice versa and they would function the same on both a fascist and on a Marxist-Leninist(?) forum.

        I think that the user ImperiumFirst whose banner is this:

        and who describes himself as “Political Extremist | America First | Christ is King ✝️”, and whose pinned tweet is praising Kanye West for using a swastika, and whose feed is currently filled with Nick Fuentes videos…

        …is in fact a fascist and probably a /pol/ user.

        Do you follow that guy? Or did the site correctly assume you’d like his tweet?

        And yes, the wording, that you’re acting is completely neutral, is indeed regularly used by fascists “just noticing” Jewish undermining of the White race, even by the very same profile here:

        For a supposed Marxist, you’re oddly oblivious to fascist iconography and memes, and uncritical of the content served to you by a fascist-owned website.

          I hadn’t seen the user posting it was a neo Nazi so I’ll delete the post thanks for the heads up. I’ll still remain with the point that nothing in the post itself is antisemitic.

          Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. A lot of the times the choice nowadays when about getting involved in something is whether it’s worth your privacy. Which alienates from hobbies, causes, organizing, all the stuff that people do related to “touching grass”. And lets not kid ourselves, even a lot of the stuff we want to do in our free time that is the opposite of “touching grass” requires discord.

    I will say that this has been in the works for a little bit now and it’s more related to the UK’s new laws. We’ve had this age verification stuff on Discord for some months now.

    As for why it’s being rolled out globally, not sure. The UK is not the only country / state starting to ask for ages verification on “social media” so maybe they thought it would be easier to use the same approach everywhere? Seems like a bad idea though as everywhere it’s implemented it’s unpopular.

    My experience with it so far has been that… well… It hasn’t affected me at all. Mostly because I only use friends servers and activism servers. Those aren’t age restricted, so you never hit this check.

    As far as age verification law compliance / implementation goes, this is not the worst one. That data leak early on was a clown show though.

      It’s excusable for the UK but we’re talking globally now. There’s no legitimate reason to push this globally besides Discord wanting to ID all their users.

        Of course. It’s not like I want this. I was out there messaging my MP when the UK law had just been pushed through and filling out the petitions. It didn’t help though.

        You can send a message to Discord by leaving, but they won’t revert it for places where it’s legally required.

    This post would 100% fit right in on 4chan’s /pol/ board.
    The “Every time” title is what takes it from Israel-critical to anti-semitic. It’s the standard format for right-wing posts “proving” a Jewish world conspiracy, implying the Jews are behind it “every time”.

    OP knows this of course, but they pretend they don’t.

      Bullshit. As if “Mossad” is not synonymous with dystopian surveillance… This is very clearly not alluding to an “Elders of Zion” conspiracy theory but the Mossad being one of the most aggressive surveillance agency’s of the west which is common knowledge.

      You saying the Occupation Regime Of West Palestine is a stand-in for Jewish people worldwide is what’s antisemitic. Having to tip-toe around “antisemitism” is how the zionists want us to dilute and tone-down our criticisms. Yes the right wingers use “Israel” as a stand-in for jews and a lot of their dog-whistles sound very similar to legitimate criticisms, that’s the whole point of dogwhistles. Lets make sure that our stance is clear and firm.

            I don’t know if I should. Because a dog whistle’s nature entails that they’re so very easily excusable as misunderstandings and “not what I meant at all, gosh golly” and conversations with people who use them devolve into shouting matches EVERY TIME and I don’t know if I’m up for that right now.

              Dog whistles are commonly known and when searching for them the first thing which will usually pop up is an explanation of the dog whistle.

              Unless you’re implying it’s antisemitic to relate Israel to mass surveillance and spying I’m not sure what angle you’re going for.

                  so you meant antizionistic? in which case you can say that out loud. the difference is that zionism (the behaviour) is something that its perpetrator willingly chose to perform, can regulate and can be both bad and criticized.

                  semitism (an act of being a jew) is not something you control and not something that would hurt anyone and is therefor considered shitty move to criticize and attack in civilized society.

      The title of this post doesn’t reference jews, it references the fact that Israel is a major, if not the biggest player, when it comes to spyware. This article is highlighting, just how much influence israeli firms have, when it comes to spyware.
