This includes the ability to set three different classes per character, as well as systems to power up equipment.
Ah - ripped off the ol THJ formula

1 monthWell, this is fascinating. I don’t think anyone’s done anything like this before with an MMO, have they? The thing is, in MMO form, the incentive is to keep you grinding so you keep paying a subscription. Without that incentive, I’d want to have a knob I can turn to adjust the grind, like I can in V Rising server settings. It’s cool that this retains some amount of multiplayer, too.
EDIT: Seemingly still via a subscription, so that makes this far less interesting.

I think the bigger problem is going to be too much support for solo play. A big part of what made EQ work was getting people into groups and guilds and the connections made in that pursuit. Without it, the game was just a boring grind, the game play and story lines were all very basic.

The formula was very successful – by 2025 EQ1 standards – so much so that they killed the private server that had originally done this.

1 monthWell, hopefully this inspires more devs to “steer into the skid”, so to speak. Stop fighting what your customers are showing you they want.

1 monthSo an official server of pre-Kunark EQ designed to be soloable for a subscription fee? I’m sure there are plenty of people who would be willing to to pay a sub for that, but even as a big fan of old-school EQ, I’m not one of them.

1 monthGotcha, that’s disappointing. I assumed it was just buy it and keep it, not free to play.

1 monthI figured it would be like regular EQ is now, F2P with perks if you subscribe.

1 monthI’m interested in the premise, but if it’s a 300 hour grind to Vox and Nagafen solo, it’s not gonna be for me. When I started (late Kunark), much of the old world was already dead, so it’d be neat to see that content.

EverQuest Legends is described as a “solo/casual version of EverQuest” able to be played entirely in single player.
Ew. Nothing screams “I’m a loser” more than “I like playing MMOs alone.”
