• If I don’t like them it’s probably because it’s scented and makes my allergies go nuts 😟

  • They’re a terrible gift. I have a zillion candles they I keep around and can’t quite get around to throwing away

  • i have irritant-induced asthma and if there’s a lit candle in the room with me I breathe significantly worse and have to cough a lot

    • scented is very noxious, because they have chemicals in it to volatilize the scents. usually aromatic carbons(benzene structure) or alcohols.

  • My mother-in-law keeps giving me scented candles for my birthday. I’m happy to receive them because it’s one less thing she has to worry about - what do I want for my birthday? Scented candles.

They all end up in the charity shops but she doesn’t need to know that. :)

    • They are consumables so you can just say you used the up if anyone asks.

As a person who is difficult to buy for (not because I want special things but because I don’t really want anything), candles are ideal as I either like them and use them, or can say I did. Much better that something I am expected to wear or constantly display in my home.

  • Most of the candle is designed very specifically so that it will not, in fact, catch fire and burn.

  • And they never go bad so you can just slap a new label on the gift and give it to someone else next Christmas

  • If you give me a candle as a present, you are not my friend anymore.
