After an exhausting year of porting, which followed an exhausting half-decade of legal uncertainty, Team Fortress 2 Classified is now available on Steam! What are you waiting for? Get playing already!
I appreciate modding projects like this one and TF2 remains one of my most played games of all time. I‘m through with it but godspeed to them!
Oh Yeah, time to get back into TF2.
One thing to note for others, this is a recreation (and evolution) of TF2 before it went crazy with random bullshit (so ~2010ish era).
All the random bullshit they kept adding and the emphasis on hats are what made me stop playing it around that time. Definitely want to give this a shot
I’m kind of for that to be honest. Will be playing it sometime over the weekend for sure
Does this implement any of the updates or is it strictly vanilla?
I haven’t played the release version, but it definitely branches out into its own thing. It is not just a direct clone of ~2010 era TF2. I would check it out if it sounds interesting.
I am planning to play it this weekend and I hope it gets enough momentum in Europe to have somewhat full servers.
I’ll definitely look into it. Early TF2 was one of my favorite shooters of all time.
Cool.
Green and Yellow teams!
Best news this year.
I love this negative review. Notice their hours on record.

I assume they mean 1000 hours in TF2. This mod has its own store listing separate from base TF2’s.
TF2 Classified was originally called TF2 Classic, and has been out for years, this is just the official Steam release.
That makes it even more damning of a bad review. lol
I saw the comments saying it basically is TF2 without the updates, but reading the description on the store page it sounds nothing at all like that.
Yeah, they must mean the original, since this mod just released today. But if you read their whole review, they don’t directly reference the original game once, they just gripe about all the things they don’t like about this mod.
The mod has actually been a thing for a while, they only released on steam recently, & before that there were some legal troubles or something…
Point being 1,000 hours on the mod is believable if they played before the steam release & before the legal troubles.
Dudes got 177 reviews done too. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of not all but a couple games were even played.
