Microsoft/id desperately trying to salvage some good will after announcing a tonne of layoffs?
Fuck that noise.

games usually remove denuvo when sales are less than the cost to keep the denuvo subscription up. denuvo is not a one time purchase for devs

Yeah, because microsoft’s fortunes lie with the couple thousand that didn’t buy this game due to denuvo. C’mon man. It was probably too expensive to keep paying denuvo since they were sunsetting the studio anyway.

They did the same with Eternal before, you’re just hating for sake of hating

I’m probably being overly skeptical - but even if the timing was already locked in before the announced cuts at id and elsewhere; you can’t argue that they wouldn’t at least be trying to shift the news cycle across.

So has anyone here played the new Doom game? How is it? I liked 2026, but Eternal didn’t feel like Doom at all.

Take it from a guy that also didn’t dig eternal: Played a non hypervisor copy of this and jumped off it pretty quick ( but might revisit ). Gameplay is pretty fun - lots of combos to do with the shield, action is more “up close” unlike the other two. It’s also very pretty and well optimized. The story and objectives though, holy cringe. Like a 5yo wrote it I swear. Don’t even know why they insist on thick story in a doom game. And I hear there’s a dragon at some point. Also the music was pretty meh.

Bought it when I last upgraded my pc, played the whole thing. It was just okay. Story was meh, combat was kinda fun. I liked 2016 and eternal more, but maybe thats just me.
My suggestion, if you’re decent at games with parrying mechanics, theres an option to remove the time slowdown effect. Makes the game feel much faster paced.

Still says it has it on the steam purchase page… “Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-Tamper”
