crysis remastered? does it have lower system requirements than the original?
Nope higher. Especially if you enable ray tracing which was added.
IPC single thread performance matters most for Crysis because their complex AI especially is single threaded IIRC. Remastered didn’t do anything about that.
Gotta get that Switch port working somehow
Nice, glad to hear that the original, non-remastered Crysis is available! If I remember right, Crysis Remastered is actually an update to the console port of Crysis, and the console versions simplified how your powers activate, making it easier to do on a controller.
I haven’t checked in on this, as I’ve only ever played the original version of the game, but I heard the console port also cut out the VTOL level toward the end of the game, because they just couldn’t get it running. Hopefully it’s retained in the modern remasters, as I love that level.
So weird to think that Crysis is retro now.
It’s also playable now
Worth noting that the remastered versions have no multiplayer. There’s no bringing back multiplayer for Crysis 2 and 3, but the original Cryis Warhead is still available on GOG, where you can play old-school Crysis Wars multiplayer via LAN.
Warhead was like Crysis 1.5, actually. But I have tried playing the original Crysis online a couple years ago and it’s possible. Not super convenient, but possible.
For a game that old, “possible” is totally acceptable. I tested it on two PCs of mine on a LAN, and it works just fine.
I wasn’t talking about LAN but playing online on public servers. And I wasn’t saying it as a bad thing, just tempering expectations. Iirc, you have to patch the game, then create an account for the GameSpy replacement. There were some stability issues, too, but if you find a decent server it was ok.
But after all of that the main issue was, of course, lack of players.
Oh, for me, “online” is playing via VPN or direct IP connection with friends.
Oh dang now I want to get a group together for that, I loved crysis multiplayer
A cherry on top would be if the announcement was “Now your PC can run Crysis”
But can it run Crysis remastered?
They kinda did when they shared the posts on social media earlier:
*Can your PC run this news? ;)
Oh, nice. I played 1 and 2 way back.
My tv came with this 3D feature that never saw any use except for that one time when I found out that Crysis 2 supports it. I should try that again, if I can just find those stupid glasses.
wow never heard of that
the 3d tv’s were a super quick fad that went away in favor of uhd, hdr, and 4k i believe
You’re correct. Projectors still mostly support 3D, so if you’re into 3D that’s the best way to watch stuff or game in 3D nowadays, outside of VR headsets, of course.
Projectors still mostly support 3D
These require glasses I assume?
I’m one of the few people who actually love 3D for movies. I’d heard of the TVs but not projectors. I’d watch all movies in 3D if I could, particularly on a large screen like a projector’s. It’s especially great IMO for movies with lots of computer-generated effects - I saw the first Avatar in 3D at an IMAX and it was amazing.Yeah. Generally for 3D you’ll want a DLP projector, plus active shutter glasses. They still make the glasses, you can pick them up on Amazon. They go for about $20 per pair.
The magic words to search for are “DLP 3D glasses” ideally you want ones that support 144Hz, but most of them do. 144Hz in 3D comes out to 3 flashes per eye, per frame, at 24fps, which generally will give you the smoothest experience. For 60fps content like video games it should go down to 120Hz, which is still one flash per eye per frame.
Yeah. Mine is from the tail end of that, and is also uhd. It’s also supposed to be smart, but in reality it doesn’t do much, which I’m thankful for.
That sounds pretty cool actually
Not running android or some other bullshit really makes it worth its weight in gold.
Any media we can own outright is a win.
