While we’re on the subject im just going to Leave this here for some of today’s Lucky 10,000

Yeah it sounds like a big number but I’m surprised at how little it actually is

I can only assume that smashing testicles led you thinking of stomping grapes.

I would enjoy those grapes better one at a time. Unless they are really sour.
- MonkderVierte@lemmy.zipEnglish8 hours
Sure are. What are you talking about?
…supermarkets usually have the breeds with berries larger than a thumb (and imo too sweet), because they keep longer. Maybe you’re only used to them? But those are not typical grapes.

Completely disagree. Wine grapes are good too. In small quantities though, eat too many of them and there’s a flavour that starts accumulating, which turns you off from eating too many.

Not surprising, I’d guess a wine bottle can hold about 200 whole grapes of the varieties that are grown for wine which iirc are smaller sized grapes.

I disagree. I’ve got a Sauvignon Blanc vine that makes the tastiest grapes I’ve ever had. Sure, they are small and full of seeds, but they are way above table grapes for flavour

Huh interesting, that’s different from what I’ve tasted and read in articles, but it’s entirely possible that your particular variety is superior

I was very surprised when eating it. Like you, I’ve read articles about wine grapes and I was expecting it to be bad.
I’ve taken cuttings off this vine, so maybe at some point I can get enough to make wine. Maybe the wine will be incredibly poor flavour.

Pretty easy if you get a type appropriate to your climate. They take a bit of work in the sense of pruning and training. It isn’t difficult, but it needs to be done correctly to get the plant to fruit.
If you like gardening than it is fun.

Oh damn, i got confused here because in french “grappe” is the word for “grape cluster” so at first i was thinking it needed hundred of clusters for one bottle, and wine seemed very very wasteful to me for one moment
Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zoneEnglish
7 hoursIt’s objectively a waste of grapes and I think it’s pretty obvious
CarstenBoll@feddit.dkEnglish
7 hoursGrapes don’t keep well, wine does. Why do you think people started making wine and e.g. cider? Great way to preserve fruit juice.
Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zoneEnglish
6 hoursToday’s wine isn’t being made to keep grapes from going bad, the past doesn’t apply to now.
CarstenBoll@feddit.dkEnglish
6 hoursSo what do you have against wine? It’s not ikke butter is a waste of milk, it’s a refined product. Same with wine.
Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zoneEnglish
5 hoursI think I stated what I have against it in my original comment
